I am missing too much right now, so I'm just gonna get the Japanese DVDs with english subs, from ebay. I've heard that some of them are bootleg tho :( .....how do i tell if they are bootlegs or not?

well you can always ask the person to confirm if they are bootleg or not. if they say no and they turn out to be (you can tell from the actual dvd i think) then you can contact ebay and complain,. you will need to hold onto all correspondance though.

apparently some of the hong kong bootlegs are pretty good quality so you might not be in the mood to complain.

I would ask the seller though.

So i just checked, and found almost nothing from the States, and don't feel too comfortable with sending money out to Hong Kong. Anything else I could do or way to get them.

Basically, if they're not from Viz, but have an english voice track or an english subtitle track, they're bootlegs. The Japanese dvds would only have the Japanese track. I wouldn't recommend getting the dvds off of E-bay unless you don't mind buying Hong Kong bootlegs or someone's crap attempt at making homemade vcds/dvds. And you won't get the nifty extras you'd get from legal dvds. I've also heard bad reports about the bootleg dvds for Inuyasha.
