Excel Saga is very quickly becoming one of my favourite animes, still no sign of getting serious or developing sappy love sub-plots (at least serious ones anyway). Also particulary nasty gross out humour makes an appearance in these episodes, good stuff.

Full credit to ADV releasing a DVD with enough extras and easter eggs to take on the majority of mainstream DVD, please let this continue. A shame that madman isn't including the printed materials but hey, we get reverseable dvd slips! That's something isn't it?

Good thing there is a relatively faithful subtitle track because the dub effort is taking progressively more liberties. Don't get me wrong the more incidental coarse language inserted into the dub the better, but vol2 marks the beginning of changing lines to the point of contradicting the source material as well as adding in lines where there are none before.

I was most pissed to see the uh, ‘anonymous singing guys’ line about bowling absent in the dub, that’s a great running gag, oh well as Amanda Win Lee would say: 'If you don't like it. Don't watch!'

Now to get the next volumes Feb 12

Feb the 12th?

For the new releases I thought it was the 15th, not that I'm complaining if thats true.

The next ES dvds won't come out until Feb because they released 2 in December.

I was gonna start getting ES but JB HiFi didn't have volume 1 so I bought Berserk instead.

I always find that EB do a good job at stacking them in.

But yeah Excel is the funniest Anime I've seem. Even though it has no storyline, it is really great stuff.

But I have a funny feeling that we won’t get the "Special" episode 26. If you look at most 6 disc sets with 26 episodes on them the first two volumes have 5 episodes a piece on them. But the 2nd DVD only had 4. And since both volumes 3 and 4 have both run for 100 minutes (4 25 minute episodes). So unless volume 5 or 6 has 5 episodes on it, I don't think we will be getting it.

EB are much more expensive than JB though. I was quite surprised it wasn't there. Usually I can get all the releases no worries but now it seems I may have a fight on my hands whenever new releases come out.

I got them from EB for $35, cheaper than HMV which sells its anime DVDs at $40. Exactly how much is JB?

They just put their prices up to $33 which is a shame. I think I'm going to start buying off the net more where you can save a fair bit.

Are you forgetting how long your copy of EoE took to be delievered Marius?

I'm far more content with buying them from EB on day of release.

Ah, almost glad there aren't any decent games being released for months to come (IMO) , my DVD collection is finally getting respectable.

Not as long as my Love Hina vol. 2 which took 2 months ;) That was supposed to be next business day express as well. What a joke

I have since stopped buying from Devoted and have found other websites to buy from.

EB has Madman DVD's at 10% off this month so it takes the price down to about $31. So come January 21st, I will be enjoying that 10% :D

I watched Spirited Away last Monday at highpoint as any of you would know who read my long ass post on it in the SA thread.

Anyway after that I finally played Soul Calibur 2 (stupid last boss, I didn't get touched in the first 5 matches) once and than had a look in Jb Hi-Fi.

They were selling DBZ DVDS (new ones as well) for $22 and Rurouni Kenshin TV for $27. The rest were around $31.

Damn cheap compared to EB.

Mmm, JB == cheap DVDs.

I can appreciate the work that Excel's English VA has put into the dub (being able to keep up with the searing pace of the original), but her voice is starting to annoy me.

Of course, the Japanese track is but a keypress away.

This is one of my favourite series, and I'm quite anxious for the rest of it to come out. :D

You guys pay $30+ for DVDs? That must be Canadian prices or something because at my Suncoast here I got Excel 1 for $15 and vol. 2 for $25 brand new. I never payed more than $25 for any of my other anime DVDs either. Many times Best Buy is a ton cheaper than my Suncoast as well.

Nope Australian. You Dollar buys almost 2 of ours. So really it's about the same price. Unless you importing that is.
