Blood is frustratingly pointless. Is it me or should this have been a series rather than a so-called movie? I found more story in Tenamonya Voyagers and Wild Cardz (two more rather pointless creations imo) compared to this!

Nah - as a series, it would tend to lose most of the mystery and allegorical effect as its relationships are made explicit for the sake of filling up screen time.
In a way it reflects the way many things are seen - on the surface only, with only hints of the full history and backroom shenanigans that go on in war (and, to be fair, normal life too).
In a way, it has more "point" than even the best story made purely for entertainment. This is kind of what Miyazaki gets at when be basically describes anime culture as a disgrace. 'Course, he's an old fuddy-duddy as well :)

Says Kawaii Filia:
Blood is frustratingly pointless.
I think a better way to put it is, "Blood is frustratingly subtle."
There is no effort to present the typical plot points to the viewer in an obvious manner. Nearly all the work is done with visual exposition, which makes it harder to grasp initially. For instance, if you stopped watching the movie just as the credits roll, you'd miss the ending photo montage of Vietnam War pictures and that War is an integral part of the story. The repeated juxtaposition of a calm outside world verses a terrifying and intense inner world. A good read can be found here (http://series.viz.com/blood/essay_01.html) which goes into the movie more.
Is it me or should this have been a series rather than a so-called movie?
I think it would make a good series, but Blood's mature simplicity is one of the main reasons why I like it. Making it a series would take that away and add something to it that it doesn't need.

It is too short, too simple, I've seen it done before. The only thing it really has going for it is the visuals, which are entertaining to process.
