Anyone have a clue when this anime will be released in the states?
Currently, the date is set for June 10, 2003. It will come in two flavors: With box, and without box.
Of course, it IS ADV so don't get your hopes up on a release date that is so far off.
*grumbles something about Mahou Senshi Louie*

People...download it...the resolution ownzz.
And another thing...why in the name of GOD (stress on the word god even though god obviously doesn't exist) would you wanna see a dub.
Jesus...dubs are just another way of censoring anime.
I say to hell with dubs.
I have noticed this forum is anti downloading. No downloadlinks to be found, people always talking about buying dvd's like they have all the money in the world. There's nothing wrong with downloading anime. NOTHING. (why not? Cause unless it's a good series you're not going to buy it anyway because which baka would give so much money to a crappy series)
My advice...if the series is really exceptional (like fe FLCL) and the dvd's have a reasonable price/episode (unlike FLCL...10-15$ per ep thank you very much...) you can buy it. So to take our example...can't buy FLCL
However if you can find a series like that in high rezz on the net...why buy it?
Let's take the case of GTO...wich is reasonable in price/ ep but ridiculously expensive because of it's length. (40 eps times 5 = 200 bux...)
I'd down that ----.

Oh well, with a release date like that, at leats I've have plenty of time to start saving those pennies!
BTW BDv, I happen to like ADV's work. And you can't judge what they do to FMP when no one else has seen it yet

good to see an old fashioned sub fan :p
seriously though there are many reasons to watch dubbed anime, including the fact you don't get parts of the picture covered over by text, you can take your eyes off the screen for more than a millisecond at a time etc etc (i find subs much more annoying than a half decent accurate dub for the pure intrusive nature of them).
some dubs these days are pretty darn good, but people won't admit it, and are stuck in the days of Robotech, Battle of the Planets and the like when it comes to the dub quality and adherance to the original storyline.
I'm quite looking forward to the DVD's because it will mean i can watch it on my TV, and it looks like it's going to have some great dub actors in it (who if they are as good as they have been in some past dubs should do a great job).
As to why we buy anime, probably something to do with the quality over pirated stuff, and the fact it supports the industry that produces it ;)

YES! Another fan of dubs! Now, I've got nothing against watching subs, but dubs are really the way to go. I've been saying that ever since I started watching anime. Sure, some of the old dubs are bad, but with so many today being so good there's no longer an excuse to not give them a try. Some of the best include: Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Outlaw Star, and X.
Cheers.

I just watched the dvd episode that came with the latest issue of Newtype. I believe the dub track was in Dolby 5.1. At least that’s how my receiver and DVD player read it. It sounded really good, especially in the low end.

Because you can download it for free you should and not purchase it? *sigh* For one, this series is damn good, you should purchase it not download it. You make me sick. Why should you buy it? maybe to support the anime studio who created it moron. Also i beleive your also an idiot for believing that dubbing is a way to censor anime. Ive been to ADV hq, and my friend worked there subbing their anime. They want to keep the anime as perfect as possible, the only time they will ever cut something down, is if the translation is long winded, etc. And id like to point out that FLCL is the biggest trash to ever hit the world comming out of Japan. So if you even watched that entire series, you better start asking for that 8 hours back from God.
Dont come on these forums and tell people to become a leech like you, that just irritates me. Get a job and purchase legit anime and support the people who created the anime your watching.

Most dubs make an anime sound like a children's cartoon, so I can't deal with that...I don't like the dub on FMP.
And, in terms of buying anime, for the most part, forget that. They rip the people off; 3 episodes a disc to make money, no way will i pay 10 dollars for a 20 minute episode i can easily download.
I save purchases for the greats, ones i want to reeeeeeeally treasure. Or when money burns a hole in my pocket, as it does sometimes, sigh.
But don't razz him for downloading it. I'm sure you're more than compensating by buying it.
What I'd like to know is where you people who always download anime instead of buying get your computer chairs. I don't know about you, but my computer chair sucks and if I had the choice between buying something to watch versus watching something on my computer, I'd buy the disc any day. Unless you guys buy some kind of burner, which suddenly makes any lack of funds understandable.
Frags, I agree with you on the dubs. I don't know what it is, but a lot of dubs just seem to be designed to be annoying and childish. There are a few good ones out there. Cowboy Bebop is the most obvious example; I love that dub so much that I've never even bothered to watch the show subbed. But most other dubs are very irritating.
I don't agree with you on the downloads, though. Sure, download something that's not available yet, by all means. I'd be a hypocrite to get on your back for that.
But if an anime comes out and can be bought, then it's illegal to download it. Don't you watch the news? Hundreds of idiots - ummm, people - just got cracked down on for downloading music that they could just as easily buy. And that's the same thing as downloading anime illegally. Studios haven't cracked down on anime downloaders yet, but they could if a lot of people keep downloading anime that's already licensed and released. Call me crazy, but I think it'd be cheaper just to buy the damn dvd than to have to pay lawyer's fees and fines.
Just buy the damn stuff. If you love your anime that much, you should show your support of it.

I wasn't gonna play the "I don't have enough income card," but yeah, I don't. I'm 16. Plus, don't even get me started on music. I listen to way too much music to possibly buy it all, especially since a lot of it would be import. (Try finding all the Anime OST's you want for good prices.)
Perhaps when record companies drop the CD prices to what is realistic I'll CONSIDER buying CD's...and there's no way in hell I'll get sued...I don't use typical p2p's and I don't have file sharing on.
And if you download an anime that's not licensed yet, it would have the same effect...You've already seen it, so why would you buy it later when it comes out on DVD? So you're depriving them of money like that anyway...
But yeah, I buy the stuff I really like, however I am trying to save all the money I can.

Reasonably priced anime CD's can be found at the TA market
Http://www.tamarket.com.au
they're about $23 each, $19 if you sign up (all in $AU)
they're based in melbourne, i've ordered about 7 CD's from them thus far..... all from BGC and Eva, but hey, if you like the music, you like the music
