Well since we can't send you an e-mail or a PM, then how do you suggest we go about that? I wasn't really sure on the ending either, thus why I never responded. But if I had to guess, then I'd say that they went into another dimension to start a new Universe. Because the doctor said that they were like a new Universe, but I can't really be sure.

I think that mentally Akira was in another dimension of existence, higher than ours. His physical body was all chopped up by the government guys and kept under that stadium.

When Tetsuo's powers go out of control the little kids ask Akira to take him to the next dimension he went to. He does so except Tetsuo's physical body blows up into that big white explosion. To keep the world from being destroyed by this psycho-wave the kids all contain it with themselves even though it destroys them. The Tetsuo's mind goes off to be with Akira in the next place.

It's simple, his body was not enough to contain his power (it's just a human body after all), so it became out of control, and his body mutated out of control to become a superior container for his power than his human body. The downside ofcourse was extreme pain to tetsuo himself, and a general loss of control both physically and mentally.

If Tetsuo's body mutated to become a bigger container for his power, why didn't Akira's do the same? Or did Tetsuo reach a power level greater than Akira's?

Akira's mind suppressed it. We never really saw his power to it's full potential.

Also I do believe Tetsuo achieved a greater power as well. Only thing was, his mind couldn't control it. We can draw the following,

Akira: Strong Minded (always calm, doesn't bother to say much, doesn't seem to have a care in the world, rarely even uses his power)

Tetsuo: Weak Minded (outbursts are often, can't hold his own against Kaneda because he feels inferior, relies on drugs otherwise he suffers like crazy, manic depressant, psychotic)


In the manga it showed Tetsuo basically invading an aircraft carrier, and all it's systems. Tetsuo asked one of the doctors why his body was doing this, and he replied that his power was too great even for him to handle. It's reaching out to draw upon more capacity to hold his power.

Ofcourse even with all that power, his mind is weak, which is why he can't hold his own against Kaneda, otherwise he would just be a smear on the wall.

Akira was cut to pieces and analyzed by scientists. His pieces were encapsulated and placed underground in that secret location. this was after that explosion he caused of course.
