I ran across this (http://www.sankyo-fever.com/movie/dy/dy_demo.mpg) promo movie for a new Yamato series a few months back. The site is in Japanese, so I couldn't get much info. It looks like everyone is the same just a 1000 years in the future, 3199 instead of 2199. Like all new anime, it uses cgi for the ships and mecha based off of the promo movie, but at least it uses the same Uchuu Senkin theme song.
