i must say that the end in this series really suck. i liked it all the way to the very end. they really should have made it different, or is there another season comming?

It might have been left open (which I don't necessarily think is bad) for a second season, but then again, it might have been left open just because the manga is still going and they couldn't/didn't want to write an original ending.

I didn't think the ending to the anime was all that bad. Sure, there are a lot of things left unanswered, but it came to a decent stopping place. It wrapped up part of the story, even though there is more left to be told.

snowcherry's given some very good reasons for why the series ended where it did. If you want to know what happens next, find a way to read the manga.

I don't think it was all that bad either...

So, it didn't answer the obvious question, but at least it established that things will turn out OK, That was good enough for me.

I've seen alot worse series and decent series with botched endings...

I like the ending because it does allow for an easy transition should they produce a second series.

Obviously I haven't watched nearly as much of this series as the rest of you guys--I only finished the first disc a couple of days ago--but Kare Kano is exactly what it reminded me of.

I really loved the first two episodes or so but then it becomes so relationship oriented that I'm beginning to wonder if I can make it through all of the episodes. I dunno, do you guys think it's worth buying all the DVDs for?

I think it's worth it, but I'm biased. The humor is what ropes me in. It even had my brother laughing and he's more into action oriented anime.

Same thing with my husband. Then again, he only saw the first two episodes. As long as the humor stays in there, I'll keep going with it.

 God thats a good comparison. I remember when I finished Fruits Basket and the first thing that came to mind was I'm sorry... was I watching Kare Kano????

As much as I want new anime, I think studios should wait for the mangas to be finished or nearly finished before producing a series... but then again from a marketing prospective it does make sense to produce a show at the height of popularity. Maybe it's just me. :heh:

Too true, too true. :agree: So many stories are great in comic form but fall apart when moved to the big screen (or just the TV screen in the case of series) because the animated version outpaces the manga so quickly. Series end up with lots of bad "filler" episodes (Ranma, anyone?) and movies get chopped up to pieces and don't make any sense. (X/1999, I heard, falls into this trap.)

Your reasoning why they do this (marketing) makes sense though, cloakactive, although I wish it wasn't so... *sigh*

Buy Karekano's DVD? Absolutely...NO! If you want to buy, buy until the "First infamous" (You'll know when you see it), then buy no more. As for me those series ended there. The rest I deny existance.

At least fruits baskets mantained the same quality level until the end... no ice cream sticks (thanks God)

What!!! I loved the ending. The manga was not finished at the time so the ending was perfect to leave it open for the manga or a second series.

The ending wasn't too happy nor too sad, which fits the appropriate tone of the series as a whole.

The only thing I can complain about is that its so depressing that it is over!!! I feel like I have lost a friend or something. :o (YES, Fruits Baskets is THAT good.)

It's like you can't have your anime and watch it too (cake reference)...

Hrm, great minds think alike ;)

Well, its good to see someone agrees with me in the fact that the ending was a good done. In fact, I saw it with really poor expectations after reading such comments in this thread. And believe it or, it wasn't THAT bad. Okay, maybe somewhat WEIRD but it was a nice note to end a series.
I just hope that the makers of FB listen to the general consensus of us FB fans and make a second series.

hahhaha....
i don't really think this ending is that bad, it feels kinda incomplete *hoping for season 2&* at lease it provided a sense of closure unlike some other anime mentioned above coughs * kare kano* coughs..

Most of the time they try to make a 2nd season possible so if the show is successful enough, they can keep it going. If not...well,you see the result

I've found that every single anime has a crappy series finale. Except a few: Cowboy Bebop, Trigun (it was okay), FLCL, and I'm sure there's some more that I can't think of as of now.

Personally I hate open-ending to series (especially that damned Sopranos ending). They're fine for movies, but after I've devoted 5 years of my life to a show, I expect a real ending.
