Alucard since it is Dracula backwards, and in Ep 13 Alucard is revealed to be Vlad Dracul, aka Dracula.

I like alucard best.
they seem to say akardo.
japs have a tendency to change l into r's of course and the other way around when they say lukawa they mean rukawa.
lice <> rice.
It should be Alucard. Because of the way things are pronounced it's Arucard as R and be pronounced as an L and vice versa. Also the sound of a U, O or A sound can be heard at the ending of speech.
I heard somewhere that GONZO studios said that it was spelled Arucard. how unfortunate, they should have just gone with Alucard with the obvious reasons.

there was some letter going around from the studio that stated its Arucard.....i think its jsut to spite us
I'd say it's Alucard, but the Japanese have trouble with 'Al' so it sounds like 'Arucard' and when the fansubs were produced, some subbers wrote what they heard and some wrote what it should be etc

They never reveal anything! They just hint that he's somehow related to the big D by showing him with a similar face. Until we know a bit more about "Hellsing world" we could just as well asume all Elder Vampires are required by etiquette to have a mustache like that or something.

Alucard.
Maybe Arucard(since that's how the Japanese pronounce it)
the other one...no way.
It is officially A-r-u-c-a-r-d.

I havn't seen the US DVD dubbed version but i have heard that they call him Alucard on the dubs, and Arucard in the subs.
I still support its Arucard
Konami own Alucard anyway.
Yeah, Alucard was the son of Dracula in some old Castlevania game. I preferd Arkard, sounds nice and simple. :)

I thought that Alucard was the original Undead ( Dracula) himself...
Because wasnt he supposed to be Vlad the Impaler, who was originally refered to as Dracula???
I could be wrong, and probably am. I usually am.

Ok... if you have to look at it from a phonetic stand point (that based on japanese language anyways) I would be in agreement that it is Arucard.
However, when I consider the fact that they are using a name that originated outside of japan I do think and am in agreement with those who think that Alucard is the correct spelling.
Personally, I find it interesting how much discussion can take place over a name. :heh:
It's just a matter of what you consider to be correct,
I swing either way

whether you swing one way or another... i dont think either of them are right or wrong.. :naughty:
Actually its definatly Alucard..
Its a play on words..
Try reading it backwards...
I'm guessing it's supposed to be "Alucard"... but that sounds too close to "ala carte" for me, and I couldn't take the character seriously if that was his name, so I prefer "Arucard."
Logical, huh?

Kouta Hirano says it's Arucard. I think I'd believe the guy that created the series.

L sounds like R when spoken by japanese.
eg in bgc 2040 Lina in the jap version is pronoced as Rina.
Yep. Thats why there are silly little things like this..
Take my word for it. It Alucard. Other wise the In-jokes dont work.

Yeah I would think it would be Arucard since Alucard is probably copyrighted like a bitch.

I cant believe that people are arguing so much on such a mute point.

he is;; in the anime it was referenced very little but alucard is dracula;; alucard is dracula spelled backwards;; and the name arucard is because there is no 'L' sound in japanese so the 'L' is replaced by the 'R' sound dubbing arucard

The big HOWEVER in all of our arguments is that this is not an ancient legend of the most beloved, respected, and feared Romanian prince ever (as Vlad was never officially crowned king). 'He' is the main character of a story by Kouta Hirano about vampires. What the author of the story says goes, it's their world. Arucard wins on a technicality no matter what we say or think.
Doesn't matter in the long run though. The legends of Alucard the traitor son of infamous vampire Dracula has been around for longer than any human has been alive. My preference is to call 'him' Alucard, because it is Dracula spelt backwards. What I heard was that 'he' is the son of Vlad Tepes, member of the order of Dragon.
I refer you to the following to learn more: http://www.donlinke.com/drakula/vlad.htm
i heard integra say alucard , incognito say arkard , and a few other people say arucard

Mute? I think you mean moot
