Those are the 1/24 scale models right, are they easy or hard to build?

Aside of some fansubs, mp3's, CD's and wallpapers, I don't have much of a collection. I do have a game on the Dreamcast that kinda resembles to Initial D.....(with all the cars that were showed in the series and more).....but it's not quite exactly Initial D.
In my country anime merchandises are very hard to find... :(

I think they are the 1/24 models. Mostly everything is Japanese so im not sure. Instructions are in a couple different languages. And they are very hard to build.

It's called "Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2" also known as "Tokyo Highway Challenge 2".
If you're a fan of Initial D, this is game is must. Mainly because of the cars like, GTR32, Impreza, EVO, S13, Sil 80, FD, AE86, Supra, NSX etc. etc. About 60-70 cars you can choose, some of them you have to win them.
All the cars available in the game excists in the real world, non of them are fantasy/non-excistant cars. Most of them are Japanse makes but there're Porsches and Vipers and Mercedes as well.
It's a pretty fun game to play, you can win money by winning races/battles. And with the money you earned you can by new stuff like a turbo, mufflers, racing springs, aero kits (eg spoilers, wings) and even rims or new cars. Currently I'm driving a white Mazda RX-7 FC just like Ryousuke.:P
There's quite alot to modify, you can even adjust the settings of the gearbox, springs, steering, turbo etc.
Like I said, it's not quite Initial D. It is street racing though but not on mountains roads but instead on Tokyo Highway.
But there're some resemblences. The races are only at night (duh), the cars and there're teams.
There's more than 300 rivals to beat. Some of them has cars over 600 HP. But of course when you start you only have to beat some beginners...with alot less HP. But there're hard to beat later in the game, one mistake and you lost. Every rival has its own driving style, some would do everything to win. (sounds familiar eh?) Some would just slam into the breaks all in the sudden or zig zag so you can't pass. Very exciting/thrilling game, what really makes the game, though, like the first, is the overall racing atmosphere.
And oh yes....you can drift alright!
Here's some screenshots.

the ae86 was one of the first cars that you race
Evangelion-00

Told ya, ALL cars showed in Initial D.
Yes, akaflakes is right. The AE86 (could either be a sedan or a hatchback) is one of the first cars you race against. It shouldn't be much of a problem to beat them. Now don't get scared because it's a Hachi Roku, it's not downhill racing.;)
I bought with my 15 000 starting credits/money a FC. You can also buy a AE86 and upgrade it with part with the remaining money. It was no prob to beat the first few drivers, mainly because and they were kinda unskilled and the FC having nearly 60-70 HP (stock) more power. But sooner or later, beating all members of a specific team you'll meet a teamboss driving an AE86, he's very hard to beat, very skilled, has less power and he's faster than my (at that time a tuned and modded: 280 HP) FC! I had a hard time beating him, can't believe that I got beat many times by him and his underpowered car on highway! There're also female drivers that are really hard to beat.

should have bought an Evo ;)
you should still have been able to smoke that ae86 boss with the fc.
Evangelion-00

I would...........if I had the money for it.:heh:
But it's not that very neccesarily at the moment since my FC could beat a stock EVO, Supra, NSX, FD. But then again.....if it's a modded EVO that would be a different story, it happend a few times, I lacked about 30 pony's of power....argh.....currently I've about 325 HP on my FC, if I set the turbo on the highest that is. If I'm right, there should be a stage 5 or 6 turbokits available.....I just only have to earn them....problem is that I've to beat those more powerful modded EVO's, Impreza etc. first. T_T
About the AE86 boss (there're more AE86 bosses), seriously he's a tough boss to beat, I couldn't even get anywhere near him with a stock FC (215 HP). Even if overtook him, (that was possible when I had 280 HP at my disposal) he's still close to my tail. One single mistake, he passes by. And I still can't believe how he could keep up and be that fast with that less power.
BTW you have that game as well?
akaflakes

yep i have the game.
You say that you have to beat the high powered evo's and sti's. Is that the very high speed long highway with no turns racing team?? If it was then have fun. hardest freaking team(or maybe teams) for me to beat. the two super bosses were easier than that team
speaking about games, i heard that the initial D arcade game is going to be released on ps2 soon.

Nope, it wasn't on the long straight. It was near the bridge. They just pulled away from me. I couldn't keep up. Unlike other drivers, they are better in corners, my car always hit the railguard when I try to enter the corner as fast or a few mph faster than them. But on the straight I'm pretty fast, nearly 180 mph......might have a chance there......too bad they won't show up.
Initial D Special Stage PS2 Japanese release has been pushed back till 26th Of June 2003.
SEGA is going to release a special edition where you can buy the game and a special steering wheel for the game (it's pretty much like the Logitech one for the PS2, my guess it'll have Initial D decals).
No idea when the US and PAL market will get it.
The PSOne Initial D is kinda crappy and the Gameboy Advance isn't too flash either. :P

Ive played the ROM, was in Japanese but I got through it, seemed to be a pick your own "adventure" type game. The battles you pick how you want to drive and you are presented with short clips of the car performing it well thats as much as I got up to then I gave up wasnt terribly exciting
