Let's all worship the religion of Akira

Did Akira become a full on religion in Japan or did it just get to a cult level. Because there seems to be a whole lot of people who seems to be following Tetsuo around. And even before Tetsuo became public knowledge, there seemed to be a following for him. So did Akira become a religion???

Do you mean before or after the fall of Tetsuo. I think it remained on the cult level I don't remeber seeing anyone pray to akira.
It only concerns neo tokyo not the whole of japan.

Tokyo basically became it's own country after the attack. All of tokyo was torn between two parties, the Akira party, and that old lady's.
