Really though, seeing Ruri Hentai, it goes beyond my bounderies of good taste… I mean I see the appeal of Hentai of fully formed figures but a true Lolita complex? That is rather odd… (I can't say "stupid" or "discusting" because people have the right to this, no matter how wrong it might be… It's called tolerance…) So… What our your thought on this?

Hmm. I haven't seen much hentai in general, a bit but not a whole lot. I think my general feeling is that if the character looks like an underage little girl, hentai involving her is going to feel wrong to me. If she doesn't, it won't. As I recall from the shows that aired on Toonami, Ruri did look rather young. Certainly some years younger than say Yurika, the captain of the ship. So yeah, I think hentai involving her would be odd to me. OTOH, something with the captain, for example, probably wouldn't because she doesn't look that young. I don't know what their ages are supposed to be, but I wouldn't use it as a primary factor anyway. These are drawings so it's not like they have to meet real life standards and rules. I'd go by look -- if the character just looks to young to be in hentai, seeing her in it would feel kind of weird to me.

I know there should be standards, but remember we are looking at it from the Western World view of it. I'm pretty sure that 14 is a legal age over there. And thus it's O.K. But I believe that it should be 16, and anything else below that should be not allowed. Now I know some of you guys like young teenage girls in their school uniforms, but 16 is about the lowest you should go. And that includes Fan Service too. I remember one day when I was searching around Japanese Anime web sites looking for Evangelion stuff, I came across I think Card Captor Sakura hentai. Yes I closed it straight away, but still, it seemed so wrong. At least at 16 they seemed like a decent age, but 14 is just bad.

It depends on the character, almost, and the series... Ruri is quite adult-like in her thought-processes, and shes certiantly more mature than most of the other cast of Nadesico... hence, I personally dont see Ruri hentai as quite so bad. However, series like Cardcaptors and Angelic Layer are wrong as hentai, as the characters and series doesnt HAVE any innuendoes, and the characters behave like little girls (which they are) ... Love Hina is an 'ok hentai' one, seeing as it almost IS hentai to begin with... same with Chobits..

Anyway, I generally take it on a case-by-case basis... some hentai is wrong generally, some is OK, and some is just funny to look at for the pairing the artist came up with.

oh, and wolfpac... dotn forget the eva girls are 14 as well... they might LOOk like 18-year-olds, but they are 14.... (born in 2000, eva is in 2015)

Yes, I think I've heard that the legal age is lower in Japan than say here in the US where it's 18. Whatever it is where you grow up is what you're going to be used to and it's going to be kind of hard to get used to it being something else, particularly like this 4 years younger. BTW, school girl uniforms can be pretty darn cute. :)

Two points -- one, it's primarily the people piloting the Evas that are 14, right? Maybe others are, too, but from what I read (only just started watching the series) the only guaranteed 14 year olds were the Eva pilots because of some weird "the pilot can't synch with the Eva unless he/she was born in the year the disaster struck". That's why I go by look and not the stated age of the characters. They're drawings, not real people, so as long as they don't look too young to me, it probably won't bother me.

So anime girls are in constant state of arousal, Kyrakasa? :) I guess that's why they're so attractive. ;) But I think DNA_Master is right, most of the eyes are the colored part, the iris, not the black center, the pupil. But if the iris has been enlarged to cover most of the eye, wouldn't the pupil be similarly enlarged? I think it would look kind of strange to have this big iris with a tiny pupil in the center. But I haven't paid all that much attention to the exact way anime eyes are drawn.

Acutall, I have noticed it before... ALL the girls (and shinbo and minoru) in Chobits have the same eyes... Hideki is the only one who has pupils...

I can explain it for persocons... they are LENSES not eyes per se.

a lens system such as that a persocon would use would be arranged similar to a conventional camera lens with the iris mounted behind the main lens.

because its actually rather boring.... it tried to do a 'what makes us human' thing (or something) but failed. At least Key was reasonably kawaii though.

It was sort-of directionless.. it went from 'robot-girl trying to be human' to 'robot-girl trying to be idol' to 'evil guys trying to get technology from robot-girl' to 'big conspiracty something-something'. Although it had a reasonably cool opening sequence and theme....


the eyes in SE lain are mostly large iris and tiny pupil in the middle. And the Tenchi Muyo girls have NO pupils, just a ray-less bit in the middle.
