unfortunately, i'm still waiting on mine. i preordered it a while ago, but since i preordered it with many other preorders, apparently i forgot to clarify that i want everything "ASAP" rather than waiting to get it all at once ....which is ------- stupid, considering i paid for priority =P

none the less, i've clarified that now, so i should be getting it soon >=( eitherway, i bought this one based off reading the manga alone. i haven't seen any of the anime yet, so i'm just hoping it doesn't stray too far from the manga. =\

hope it's worth the buy, 'cause i'm already wishing i spent that money on something else.

Vandread: how about a non-"i'm just inlove with Aoi" biast statement concerning whether or not i'll be disappointed?

can anyone compare the anime series to the manga?

i'm mostly just worried it will turn out like most "romantic comedies" and have a bunch of stupid ---- interrupt what otherwise would have been a very deep and sentimental scene.

Ok here's one :D

Of course I like Aoi, just not as much as belldandy...
Anyway it has a lot more romance and less comedy than Love Hina if that helps... It starts picking up near the end of the first disc and there are scenes of more serious nature...

Overall a good story it seems and one that "grows" on you ;)

that's definitely encouraging.

i completely despised Love Hina because it tried to be "funny" which i found it to be quite stupid, and it had not near enough [failed attempts at] romance to be considered a Romantic Comedy. i'm hoping for something with a greater romantic appeal and scenes of more serious nature.... so hopefully i won't be disappointed.

still waiting on a comparison to the manga though [which i have read].

thanks, both of you.

Unfortunatly Heart Havok, I have not had the chance to read the Manga. Al I can do is give my impression of the TV series.

I despise the fact that many reviewers often compare this anime to Love Hina. That is entirely untrue as this is a story of touching romance and humor. Though the english dub may seem a bit odd at first, what with the use of the suffixes -chan and -sama, it does grow on you after the first episode.

As I said, I haven't read the manga so this is based soely on the TV series. I found the characters quirky and delightful as best. i think the only one who annoyed me was Tina. Kaoru is still is quite the gentleman as he struggles living in a house with many beautiful women. Though this may come off as the typical love comedy senerio, what really set it apart from everything else I've seen is the relationship between Kaoru and Aoi. These two kids are crazy for eachother and its quite evident that the others girls really stand no chance at competing with Aoi. Aoi herself has to be one of the sweetest characters I have seen in an anime, although, there are times where she comes off as too subservient.

Because I love romantic comedies, I gave Ai Yori Aoshi a 9.5 out of 10. Not perfect, but damn near close.

i really like the series, as mentioned it's got more of a continuing plot based around the relationship between Aoi and Kaoru, even in episodes where Aoi may not be in it much at all, it still comes back to her and Kaoru and their relationship.

An example is the first apperence of Tina, and how Aoi is worried about her and Kaoru (watch it and you'll spot something about Tina and her way of behaving).

One thing i did note was DVD 1 had a slightly different opening to the version i had seen before (the Japanese TV version had parts of the opening very much whited out).

I really enjoyed it :)

oh and the box is pretty nice, very sturdy with some nice pics.

Yes, the box is very nice. I also liked the little postcard you got with the box as an extra, although I would have perfered a soundtrack more so. :(
