Recap Series

Im on episode 20 right now and although the story In Kare Kano is exceptional, Im a little disapointed at all the Recap episodes. Almost every other episode starts with a recap, This takes precious minues of screen time. And then not one but two, count them TWO, back to back episodes in ep 13&14.

Does anyone have an Idea why they would do this. Out of the 20 eps I have seen so far a total of 5 "episodes" worth of screen time is just recap. WHY oh WHY!?!?

Um, my guess is, that KareKano depends largely on your understanding of the weird relationship between our two heroes. (all that first they were over-achieving enemies with hidden personalities, then they slowly got to like each other stuff) Otherwise, it becomes just another feel good teeny-bopper show.

KareKano was also a super low budget series with a very very low framerate.

Heck in ep 19 they sue paper figures and sticks for cryin out loud.

It has to be Gainax hehe. It's interresting to watch tho. But the budget was probably one of the reasons as to whyt ehy spent a total of 2 eps on just recap.

I heard that Hideaki Anno found himself at odds with the creator of the original manga over creative differences. Thus he left the project before it was even completed before moving on to Live Action stuff.

This leaves me baffled. There is only so much you can do in animation that you can't do with LA.

Oh, so that's why KareKano is left hanging at the middle of the 14 days arc? So annoying, those last two eps. Just like watching manga......and I happen to like Tonami and they do that?! ^^

As said: super low budget.

Kare Kano started off showing promise for being my new favourite series but the recaps took care of that.

Let me just go on record again saying I loved the stick figures used in ep 19. Surely I'm not alone! Come out of the closet ep 19 lovers!
