What is Appleseed?

I have never seen Appleseed and I live in America. I have watched over 113 anime series and almost all the anime movies. But, I have never seen Appleseed. Is it good? Worth watching? I heard about the OVA's. And how is it rated? blood? what is it about? and waht is in it. Plz! reply.

There's probably a reason why you haven't seen the Appleseed anime..., the original OAV which came out in 1988 is utter sh*te..., I rate it as one of the worst manga-to-anime translations I've ever come across..., :mad:

The original manga series on the other hand is great..., one of my favourite manga series..., the story is set in the not too distant future.., where a world war has changed the political staus of the planet..., old super powers vie for dominance.., but the world is now nominally controlled/policed by the island state of Olympus...., an authoritarian utopia run by bioroids/artificial humans...,
The story revolves around two humans, Deunan Knute, & her cyborg partner Briareos, both of whom are members of ESWAT, a military/police force who are sent around the globe to enforce Olympus' will...,
The original manga series is very dark..., with layers & layers of detail which the OAV discarded with impunity..., the OAV is a shallow imitation when compared to it's manga counterpart...,

Though in 2002, Appleseed was re-made as a CG anime movie..., I haven't seen that version yet, but of the clips I have seen.., it looks closer to Shirow's original manga series than the 1988 OAV...,

Yeah, I've seen something on Showtime Beyond... I dunno if it was an episode or a movie or what, but they were hunting down a drug lord or something... at any case, it damn sucked.
