.....that I really love this series

My local anime club has been screening this as part of the years program. And out of all the other series being shown (along with Onegai Teacher and GiTS:SAC), Fruits Basket is proving to be the most popular.

Me, I have already seen the first six eps and I'm finding much to enjoy in this series. The set up is interesting (it seems like a gender-reversed Love Hina), the characters are engaging (I particularly like Shigure as well as Yuki and Tohru) and there a belly-laughs aplenty.

But I admit it: I have developed an empathy for Tohru. What I find appealing is her determination to help out everyone she meets having been orchestarted from her relations and her classmates.

Now here's a question for you all. Is this a shojo series?
Okay, so maybe I feel a touch odd for liking a shojo series but hey, I also like Card Captor Sakura. :dodgy:

BTW, does anyone else out there find the opening and closing music strangely sublime?

As has been stated, Fruits Basket is most definitely shoujo. The manga is still being released in Japan (serialized in Hana to Yume), so there is more to the story.

I too greatly enjoy the music, and not just the opening and ending themes. The entire soundtrack is relaxing and comforting.

Now I just need to get my hands on the other DVDs....I want to be legit for one of my favorite series!

I think this is one of the best series of the year, but I'm really partial to shojou.

Why isn't that reassuring? Just because something is shoujo doesn't mean that guys can't like it. It just means that the manga was originally published in a girl's magazine and that the story was originally targeted for girls.

My my my, the more I see this series the more i LOVE it!
I've just seen the ep that introduced Kisa and seeing Tohru take such a shine to that kid pulled at my heart-strings. :dodgy:

Oh and Megumi was hilarious - "I see Dead People!"
