I think mononoke was okay, had enough blood'n gore, nice story...but what it was missing was some BOOTY or nookie scenes like in "Ninja scroll"

So where would you place 1 of those "nookie scenes" and how would it go?

mine would kinda go like this:

When San takes Ashitaka to the wolves cave...Ashitaka'd fake to be unconsious till it's about midnight...
While she is sleeping Ashitaka goes to her silently while he's thinking "mabey if i sleep with this inhabitant of the woods, her powers can cure my curse!"

Of course when Ashitaka forces San to the ground she wakes up and tries to scream so Ashitaka puts his hand in front of her mouth and he "does the deed", After which he runs like HELL cause when San's brothers and mom find out, Ashitaka's deffinitelly screwed.

Sex in a mirazaki film...

Weird ---- coming from a guy who in the Akira topic stated (and I quote)

i'll probably get flamed for this but i don't want my kids to watch cartoons, i'd rather have them read a good book

Seems to me you've got some SERIOUS issues.

"Nookie" scenes wouldn't work in princess mononoke. It doesn't fit the way the story is told. And San being raped is just wrong.

It would be at the end. During the credits. In the field before San left. And we wouldn't see or hear aything. That's the only way it could fit.

we woulden't see or hear anything??? then how the hell are we supposed to know that they're screwing in the field??

this must be 1 of the most stupid replies i ever heard! :D

hehehe i'm just kidding you dawg..you know i luv ya...

but i am wondering though...how are we supposed to know if they'd be doing it or not?

It's kinda like saying: ** "in AMG: the movie" belldandy and keichi did it...we just didn't get to see the bathroom scene....but it's right there... know what i mean? **

OK, at the end Ashitaka would say something like "San, before you go, I only wish we may make our love complete."
She would give him a confused yet quickly enlightened look as he pulls her into a kiss. Then they proceed to kiss passionately until they slump into the grass. Then you'd here "Oh..." or something and the shot ould zoom out to fade.

You still wouldn't see or hear anything, though... If they put something like that in, it'd be most like that.

You really dont get it do you?
Studio Gilbi will never put a sex scene into its works...
They just dont belong in the style that is being depicted...

if thats the sort of thing you want go get Urotsukidoji the series...
Though i do beleave its banned almost every where...

A rape scene in a beautiful film like Mononoke? No.
I wouldn't reallty say it's a family film though - there's a bit too much blood and gore.

Ashitaka is not the kind of person to partake in daterape activities anyway.

Actually, no I wasn't. I was saying IF --- IF they put one in, it would be very mild and the scene would be cut off before anything actually happened. Kissing is NOT sex. Half of the time it's not even sexually oriented.

thats true i mean people do have friendly kisses or its like a child kissing a parent goodnight i mean come on............

I think Miyazaki made a comment once on the vulgarity of romance's depiction in anime and movies. So you rarely ever find kisses in his stuff. Heck, hugs are as intimate as it usually gets.

Dez, you should read this reveiw of Spirited Away that referred to Haku's dragon form as "a phallic symbol". *yuck* At least Princess Mononoke has a semblance of an adult love story so I can forgive your wandering mind, but that reviewer is just twisted. Too bad I can't find the link...

The only kiss I recall from his movies is from Castle of Cagliostro when Lupin kisses Clarrise on the forehead ...

Uh isn't that kind of retorhical considering that Mononoke is the ONLY Miyazaki movie that is really freaking violent? He's got people's heads, arms, and torsos blown into spare parts and a simple KISS is considered vulgarity?

I don't swallow that load for one second. San and Ashitaka's romance was one of the strongest values of the movie, and it was a beautiful romance that I think really needed to be explored more. For one thing San IS HOT!

But seriously. Spirited Away was even more mushy and lovey dovey then Mononoke, and if they could show us a romance about a very young main character and explore it as deeply as they did in that movie, kissing is no big thing.

If he can have animals getting their heads blown off and have wolves eating people's arms, then a kiss shouldn't kill anyone.

I agree that the romance was one of the strongest values of the movie. I disagree that it needs to be explored more in terms of adding a kiss into it. Their love was not just sexual, it was more than that. It emerged from common ideals which bounded them together in times of deep hardship, not just sexual drives. Kissing would just elevate the sexual instinct above all the other factors which constitute their love (e.g. both of them have genuine respect for the forest). Actions such as San feeling surprised at Ashitaka's tears tell much more than a kiss. Ashitaka hugging San in an intimate way is much more powerful than a kiss.

All in all. SEX WOULD RUIN MIYAZAKI!

Well that brings closure to this discussion... finally.
