Best deal?

I was wondering that since I heard this was a good, short series what is the best deal for it? Amazon has the OVA collection for a cheap price and it has all 3 (there are only 3, right?) DVDs and that price is a lot cheaper than getting them seperately. Also, could anyone tell me if I'd like this, some of my favorite animes include: Love Hina, Excel Saga, Inuyasha, .hack//SIGN, Ranma 1/2, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Great Teacher Onizuka, Evangelion and Ah! My Goddess. I like action and drama but not mindless action and melodrama.

Also I heard there's a Sakura Wars PS2 game, if anyone has the import it'd be nice to hear some opinions on it.

Well, there is the first 4 episode OVA series (1 DVD I think...) and then there is the second OVA series which is 1 or 2 DVDs. Eventually, ADV are going to release the 26 episode TV series and 3rd OVA series. But that won't be for a loooong time.

And I don't know anything about the game. Apparently a dating-mech-RPG cross-over type deal. Was incredibly popular and therefore spawned the anime.

If you liked .hack//sigh and Ah! My Goddess, then you might like this. The OVAs deceptively lack action. There are almost NO battle scenes, its a little slow-paced, and mostly focuses on characterization. Overall, its just an ok show. Oh and with really good music.

It was not at first a dating game... Its like calling FF7 a dating game cause of the gold saucer thing but... Yerh....

I have another question, based on (popular) opinion, which is better, the OAVs or TV series? I'm still a n00b to this series but I'd like to get into it. I've seen the first ep. of Sakura Taisen which I guess is the TV series and it was alright. I'm assuming the TV series is better, how many episodes is it total (how many DVDs)? Sorry for all the questions, it's hard to find good websites with info (anyone want to share a good site ;)?).

The TV SERIES!!!! Defintely. The OVA assumes you know the characters and backstory already and features little action, just character side-stories. The TV series fleshes everything out. It is 25 episodes long, I'm not quite sure how many DVDs ADV will make this. Probably 5-7.

There is a box out, so I'm sure if I had the box right now I could tell. But sadly I don't. :(

I can't find a good site either. ADV's official site is pretty good but of course they only talk about the Sakura Wars properties that they have, which is OVA1, OVA2, and the TV series.
