Just thought I'd toss the ol' peanut out there.

In Jin-Roh, one always had the impression that there was at least the illusion of hope. There never was any hope for those kids.

Yeah, these are not movies to watch when you're in a sad mood.

Yeah, really... I've really been wanting to have my dad see Jin-Roh, but I can never find a time where we have both: a) enough time, and b) is the right mood.

Show it to him when he's really happy, THAT'LL make him want to kill himself.

yea but in Jin-Roh the breaking of hope is the true downer. In Grave, you never had hope, but in Jin-roh, The illusion of hope is there, then the smack your a** into a harsh reality.

I found Grave of the Fireflies much sadder than Jin-Roh...

It was much sadder to watch the kids in GotF then the adults in JR come to the conclusion of a sad story...
I felt JR had many more elements in it which took it to a romance story and an action movie which distracted from the sad moment enogh to make it much less daunting then the complete sad story of GotF...

yeah grave is much more of a downer;; jin-roh is more of a strong drama mixed with a dash of violence and big guns
