What is X about? Cause I know an anime called X one. So I was just wondering.

X is about an aproaching apocalypse and the two sides that will determine the outcome.
These are the dragon of earth and the seven angels and the dragon of heaven and the seven seals.
The dragon of earth side wants the world to change and destroy all mankind to cleanse the earth while the dragon of earth side wants to save the world.

Errrr.... make that the dragon of heaven side. Freaksaus, you make it sound like the dragons of earth are schizophrenic...
Side note: X [one] is the first volume of the series. Just in case you... ahem.... didn't guess that.

I watched the series through twice, but I can't understand why it is actually called "X." Is it obvious? Could anyone please explain why it is given such a bizarre title? Thanks!
Cheers.

Hey come to think of it I've seen all the anime and I too have no clue. I think I was lulled by all the pretty people and apocalyptic angst to not notice that I didn't understand the frickin title...

There is a thread somewhere around here that answers that question...I know, because I was the one who answered it.
CLAMP's official explanation can be summed up as, "Well, what does 'X' mean to -you-?" -_-

Well.... that's kind of a cop-out. They're just trying to avoid the question... :dodgy:
Anyway. Come on! What can be a cooler name for a series than "X"?! "X" is really the most totally awesomest letter in the alphabet. It's not a long and overly-elaborate title like "All-Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" that's not very easy for the common folk to remember. An "x" is easy to write for those with little dexterity. It's also an important variable name in algebra, for some reason, as well as being a handy symbol for gold-toting pirates. "X" can give a series freaky psychological meaning, inciting oodles of conversation even though it's really just an easy one-syllable title.
:dodgy:
I think a more confusing question is, why is the opening song called "eX-dream"? What is an "eX"? What's that "e" doing there?!

Well if "ex" means former (like in ex-wife) then maybe we mean some sort of former dream? I really have no idea I'm just trying to come up with something. There is a lot of dream seeing in the series, so maybe...
SPOILER
.... it has something to do with princess Hinoto's dreamseeing. At first she saw that the earth was ruined as the Dragons of Earth had won. However, in the end, Kamui manages to save the earth from destruction. So maybe Hinoto's former dream, her ex-dream, was incorrect. Is that what the song is referring to?
Who knows! :)
Cheers.
 Good theory. It makes some kind of twisted sense. :D
I think it's the fact that the "X" in "eX" is capitalized. Just throws me off.

Oh, so AKA "It sounded cool and looked pretty on the covers".
Hmmm, well X does seem apocalyptic to me...sorta.
Going back to the pirate theory...
Think about it. We've all heard the age-old phrase "X marks the spot." If X marks the spot, then that means that you are aiming to reach X. Therefore, X is a symbol for the ending, or the finish. So it all works with jennwenn's apocalyptic feelings, because X is the sign of a conclusion.
And that's how the X TV series is related to pirates.

Bah Bah fooey, it was used to compete with X-Men who had a Japanese comic that was released in Japan around the same time thus confusing female buyers into think that they were buying the X-Men comic book!
