Yes, I noticed that. :) A thread about this came up on usenet not too long ago with people trying to get all the characters' names and shows (translated?). I didn't recognize most of the characters on the list, but it was kind of neat seeing some people I did know on there. I thought about posting the full list from usenet in the general anime forum here but decided to pass. One thing we didn't really get there though is what the selection criteria were -- do you happen to know how that top 100 list was constructed?

That was all for characters in 2002. It would be much harder to compile a list for all time. I'm not sure how it was constructed, but I think it was staff decided, and not based on any poll.

Newtype considers Tsukasa a male though. anyhow, Tsukasa was number one on the Top Male characters months ago (the polls that they have every month)
