Yay, confession time....
Who cried when Momiji told Honda about how he was estranged from his mother? That would have to be one of the saddest moments I have ever seen in anime (right up there with Grave of the Fireflies :dodgy: ).
Yet it is intriguing to see such a side of the hyperactive Momiji.
He told her that his mother never loved him as a child and treated him like a freak and then her memory was erased meaning that he would never receive a proper motherly love :(
And then it ended with that priceless moment of Honda crying whilst hugging the rabbit. :bawling:
Damn, if shojo anime keep doing stuff like this to me, I should keep well away from them
I guess I'm just a big softie :goof:

I dare you to watch Kanon. Fruits Basket is nothing compared to that one... :)

*raises hand* I was whimpering and cooing for the poor kid! That was HORRIBLE!!!! And it came totally out of the blue. Like, WTF that happened to you?!?!?
And another note, Kanon? What's that about? I always got the impression it was fanservice stuff...

I wept like a baby. It was compounded by the flashbacks of Kyoko's death. Adding that to Momiji's already-depressing story just...ergh.
Practically everyone I know thinks that Hatori's story was worse, but I totally disagree. No kid needs to hear that kind of thing from their mother.

I agree. Being hurt by your mother at a young, helpless age is MUCH worse than losing a love interest. Sure it was true love for Hatori, but Momiji is a frickin kid. Just because he doesn't show it doesn't mean he's not as hurt as Hatori.
You can get another girlfriend, but not a mother replacement.

Kanon is a shoujo masterpiece based upon character designs from an h-game. But, it's not H by any stretch of the imagination and pretty much completely lacks fan service.
The story starts out with a high school boy, Yuuichi, taking an extended visit to Northern Japane to stay with his aunt since his parents have taken a job outside of Japan. Years ago, when he was young, he also spent some time at his aunts place. But, for some reason, he can remember almost none of it. Things start to get interesting when some of his classmates start to remember playing with him when he was a young boy.
There is a cast of very "soft/gentle" and cute characters. You can't help but get very attached to them while watching the series. When "bad things" start to happen to these characters, it really pulls at the heart. Much more so for me than Fruit Baskets did.

I see the word Kanon and I immediately think of Johann Pachelbel

I cried on most Furuba episodes, particularly on eps 1,5,8,15,21,25 & 26.
My experience and I remember one night five of us sitting in front of the TV & watching that episode (15) and we all ended up *sniff sniff* rubbed our tears away too.

Ah, this was sad, alittle too sad :( . Man, did i weep during most of the episodes. The whole fact how it bases the topic from real life, people everyday have things said to them just because of who they are. So sad...

Momiji deserves so much better than that. I cried and wanted to hug him. I'm really amazed at how strong and optomistic he is about the whole situation. That's why he's a hero and an angel to me.

Nevertheless Hatori's relationship with Kana was beautiful and real and it was sad to see it end so harshly.
