Since there are no plans for Furuba season 2 at the moment (well i'm still hoping), I'd like to ask for those who have superior Furuba knowledge (that is, the ones who has the manga).

We all know that Shigure was hiding something. Any comments will be appreciated.

I almost forgot, i only realise this when i saw his devious smile in episode 9.

Whether he's having a good or evil plans, he's still my favourite character (I'm still completely in love with Shigure-sama) and I've been dying to know what was his goal.

Im up to like episode 20..and he doesnt seem all that 'evil/devious' to me. Oh I love how he treats his editor. I want an editor like that. Such a happy couple.

I agree. They should get married or something. *sigh* But even without the whole jyuunishi issue, she would probably die of a heart attack. *sigh* But they're sooo cute.

I saw the anime first and even then, I suspected that Shigure was up to something especially since he is the only juunishi who doesn't seem to be scared or threatened by him so it seemed like they were conspiring. when the ending came along, I was confused about Shigure's reaction. The apologizing to Tohru didn't bother me back then but it was that part where they show a glimpse of Akito hidden in the trees and Shigure who was laughing in relief at the time stops and frowns all of a sudden. o_O

Should there be a season 2, I guess they can take it from there and raise the plotting Shigure from the anime but he wont be as effective and he would probably come off more of a nice guy than just someone who's out for himself. The moment I met "manga" shigure, by all means, I saw just how DIFFERENT they are and how much the ANIME Shigure is a disappointment.

In the manga, it's very obvious that shigure is up to something and it involves using Tohru. Shigure seems disgusted with what he's about to do since it might end up hurting Tohru deeply, but at the same time, he might get hurt too according to hatori. It was then that I realized that the manga shigure started out more of a heartless bastard who looked out for himself entirely until Tohru came along and slowly softened him without him even realizing it. There are also hints that Shigure is manipulating Akito to do 'something.' Certainly, seems like Akito is pushing the members to follow their parts of the story. There are a few people who mentioned how Shigure is plotting to break the curse but I couldn't find any verses or parts where they even hint that or show it. He might as very well want to break the curse but it's not for the greater good... but then, what confuses me is that occasionally he has these conversations with Hatori where he seems to want to break the curse to free the younger juunishi generation instead of freeing himself.

It's a pity they didn't include this aspect of his character in the anime, instead just made him as a perverted, joking sort of person whose main activity seems to be tease Mit-chan, his editor, suicidal.

Thanks for the small info you provided, Nairohe.

Yeah, I think making Shigure more "devious" would have made him (a) far more sexy (b) far more intriguing and (c) really added something to the plot. However, it probably would have taken away somewhat from the light-heartedness.

And I second mistress bunny, thanks Nairohe for sharing all your manga insight!

If you watch for it and you have some knowledge about Manga Shigure, they seem to have 'tried' to put that aspect of Shigure but changed their minds later on and made his "funny" side shine more.

First, he's the only Juunishi who freely visits Akito and I remember that in at least one of those visits, he flashed the "devious smile." I'm not sure which episode it is though, after that I didn't really see that many smiles from him.

Another obvious hint was where he informs Akito that Yuki and Kyo aren't coming. He sounded a little fishy there like he's sorta challenging Akito how he may have lost control over the two "possibly most important members of the juunishi" to a mere girl. If you read through the manga, you wont realize until Volume 10 that Shigure is gambling and purposely pushing Akito to make certain decisions. It's not until somewhere in volume 8 does Shigure figure out that akito is becoming more suspicious of him but that doesnt carry over in the anime but I think they may have tried to show a hint of it when Tohru comes back with Kyo after learning his secret. I guess the director was aware about the powerplay but had to fastforward it... still a little disappointing because I HIGHLY doubt that manga shigure would've reacted the same way. IN fact, he never ever loses his cool and he's always challenging Akito every chance he gets. There are a few lines that a normal person would end up getting beat up by Akito that Shigure gets away with. In some ways, Akito is 'threatened" by Shiggy.

This is a relief to know. What I've seen insofar, Akito is an all powerful sod who rules all with an iron fist and without any contention

Go Shigure! Bring that bastard Akito down!

*laughs* Shiggy! I like that. :p

Shigure has been my favorite ever since I first saw the show, and I can't wait to read the manga and see the entire Sohma Shigure!

I agree with Spike558. It's good to see someone standing up to Akito. I know that if Shigure ever did act, Ayame and Hatori would be with him all the way. Probably Yuki, Kyo, Haru, Momiji, Kagura...Well, quite a few of the Juunishi would side with him. He's just such a w00by.

He reminds me a lot of Xeloss from Slayers;a silly-acting guy that hides a clever mind.

However I don't see what he would be planning for.

Shigure isn't hiding anything "big per say" but he does have a little secreat involving Ren "Akito's mom". Akito is definatley not to thrilled with what Shigure did hence their "hate/love" relationship. It really doesn't involve Tohru at all what so ever, though that vibe did come off earlier on in the manga. I hope my post made sense I'm kinda in rush ^^;;

A response! Well I'm glad it makes somewhat sense I didn't want to ruin the series, or that part of the series of what actually happens unless people don't mind? Meaning, I could get into more deatil about the "secret".

What do you mean by message? Do you mean just to reply to what you posted?
