View Full Version : Dub news for yes you the one person who cares....
Read this on AOD
According to the recent Con Announcements, FUNimation will not be dubbing Sakura with their dub actors.
They will either use ADV's dub actors, or Pioneer's VAs.
This is good news for Tenchi fans too. Now, there is more chance that GXP episode 17 will have original VA's, and IF they get OVA3, they will too.
If anyone cares.

I care! Yes that is good news. They should try and be consistent and I actually like the English dub voices, to an extent even better that the Japanese ones.
Considering that Sakura Wars was one of the first dubs ADV did this isn't bad at all. Even by today's (not much higher) standards, I personally think Sakura Wars has one of the best English dubs. Maria's Russian accent, Sumire's haughtiness, and Iris's French accent are easier to understand in English.

Aw, its not THAT bad. Granted, I don't quite understand the Japanese obsession with it, but I guarantee the TV series is MUCH better and more accessible than the OVA series.
And look, the venerable Chris Beveridge from AnimeonDVD thinks its ok:
While I’ve enjoyed the Sakura franchise in the past in the few forms that were available in anime form, I’m much more interested in this regular length series since it’s likely to present a more cohesive story in addition to an interesting and attractive female cast. The introduction of Crimson Miroku in the first volume alone piqued my interest as well as the few moments of dark tidings brought into play in a few scenes. This incarnation of the Sakura franchise is looking to be quite enjoyable based on this first volume.
