Can somebody tell me the reason why in Tokyo Jupiter the time has gone much slower than in the real world. Are the mulians trying to slow down human progression so they can gain better control? Please tell me. I know this might seem like a stupid question, but I've only watched ep. 1-5.

Thanks a lot.

Tokyo Jupiter is like the Sea of Dirac it allows you to travel into a parallel universe.

Instead of the Dirac Equations you use a Fienman construct to form the Sphere.

The Director, Izubuchi states it well and I'll summarize his quote...
It goes something like this...

The Time difference is a Metaphor for Ayato/Shinji to chose his life... Whether to live a life where Everything is set for him or to break out and chose a life of choices.... To chose his own Reality...

It's not Evangelion... It's the Sequel to Eva...

Well, darn ! And I thought for the whole series that the time dilation thing was just a result of warping the area of spacetime in which Tokyo is located in some otherworldly way in order to isolate it from the rest of the world, while creating a "time potential" through which travel is only possible if you have a huge amount of energy to spare. I thought that instead of transporting Tokyo to another planet, or to some really far away place, to which also huge amounts of energy is required to travel, they just kind of displaced it in time.

Oh well ... wonder how the authors of the show actually explain that part :p
