After viewing the last volume, I felt warm, and was delighted to gotten to know Excel and Ilpalazzo deeper than seen previously. To see the serious, desperate side of Excel, and to understand what values Ilpalazzo actually holds.
I believe Ilpalazzo isn't an evil person at all, nor does he actually desire conquest in his heart. His constant ploys to take over F is merely another of his oddball activities, like dominos, dating sims, and the guitar. It's all just a lonely over-grown child's game.
With the game coming together, victory clear to see, it suddenly turned serious. His arrogance manifested into an evil subconscience. He let that happen to escape, because he couldn't handle reality.
His link to his childlike self, Excel, he shot out of a mix of ambition and self pity. Perhaps he thought with her around, he'd have to face the reality around him. After all, she was his closest friend and kept everything a game, which was bad for the evil subconscious, and bad for Ilpalazzo.
Of course with his playmate gone, he was only left with Hyatt. While just as submissive, wasn't Excel. Lonliness followed, the pain of losing Excel setting in strong. Losing himself now in pressure and sorrow, the subconscious grew stronger, and Ilpalazzo found it harder to stay in control.
As we know, it wasn't until Excel's return that his subconscious was defeated. It would appear that her love and loyalty (not to mention her mean right hand!) was just strongee than the fear inside Ilpalazzo. With a smack back to reality, it was game on again, and it couldn't have come at a better moment.
And does he love Excel? I would say yes, with all his hunky, badass bishie heart. Excel is his companion, playmate, friend, shooting target, and shaft dunker.
Is he evil? No, but he is certainly badass.
So, what are your serious views on Ilpalazzo?
