Chapter 170 or so recently came out in Japan. That's in volume 19. And as previously stated, it's still going. Presuming the anime lasts, it's still got a LONG way to go compared to the manga. I don't have the manga in front of me right now, but I believe the anime is somewhere between volumes 4 and 8. That's just a guess though. Either way, there's much story to be told.

At the start of Volume 5, it's when everyone (naruto ect ) meets Rock Lee for the first time. And yes volume 19 chapter 170 has just been realesed recently. I'll say there easily would be 90+ eps.

It's good I agree it's quite action packed, funny. But I really can't get myself to really love this series as the characters (altough some look cool) are really lacking charisma and interest I read this one after Hunter x Hunter and that one is far far superior altough it has a lot less action.

he he he, yeah, naruto is great. though, where did naruto get his wiskers on his face, or are they just done there for fun? i love sakura's inner voice, and kakashi's random comments... though a question, what's with all the shinobi's having their face covered? like kakashi and that guy with that big sword in the wave country (forgot his name, partner to haku)? hum, maybe it's just a guy thing, an older guy thing (because haku just covers his whole face instead)

Just finished watching the first 30 episodes of Naruto and I must say that it kicks butt. I like everything about if from the Ninja action, to comedy, etc. Pretty cool stuff. I am thinking that this show may easily go to 200+. Manga is long as hell. I am looking forward to more episodes of Naruto. I wonder who is going to license it though?

Yeah, Melfina, his cloning technique is pretty cool!:D Just watched the lastest episodes and I must say that I haven't been this excited about an Anime series in a while. I am right up to Third Exam where they are having Preliminary Matches to see who can take the third exam. Can't wait for the next episode.:D By the way, who is your favorite character so far? Mine would have to be a tie between Naruto and Rock Lee. That Rock Lee is something else. His tijutsu fighting style is awsome. Naruto is cool because he's more of the wildcard of the bunch, no one really knows what he's capable of. It will be interesting to see who will become chunnins. Haven't read the manga, so I am not sure.

Just wait until you see Shikamaru in action. This won't happen for a bit, especially at the pace the anime is going right now, but presuming they keep his fight relatively in tact compared to the manga, it'll be too sweet.

This is the first time (that I can think of off-hand) that my fave character in an anime was not the "star" or even a "co-star". Oh, for those that don't know, Shikamaru is the long-haired, lazy ninja who's teamed up with Choji (fat guy, always eating), and Ino (Sakura's rival).

Episode 48 has left me wanting for soo much more, the 1st half of the fight betwees Rock Lee and that sand guy was awesome, I wonder how it will end. I can't wait till I can get a hold of ep. 49!

I've been following the manga for a while now. I loved it ever since Toriyama's started doing it. The current storyline is something I've been waiting for for a LONG time... uh, could be a slight spoiler so BEWARE if you haven't read at least to chapter 182 in the manga:












The newbie ninjas get to finally do a mission on their own. It makes it doubly sweet that my favorite character, Shikamaru, gets to lead the way.

What? Excuse me? Toriyama did not create Naruto. The manga is by Masashi Kishimoto who was inspired by Toriyama's work.

If you want further information on Masashi Kishimoto, Shonen Jump did an interview with him and it is out on the web.

I think he ment that Toriyama was the first to translate Naruto manga but I'm not sure about that.

Really hard to say who is stronger. But Naruto does have a tend as he will keep on trying and trying as most people wouldn've of guess of thoes who have been following naruto for a while.

It's interesting which has the stonger feeling and will power, Naruto's will of not giveing up or Sasuke's anger of revenge.

That was sweet, huh? And that's only one of the reasons why he's my fave character.

That's all there is so far. The groups are no more than a week behind than what's in Japan. Meaning, we'll get one Naruto episode per week as they do.

In the spirit of a Naruto forum, I thought I give this a bump and keep this thread moving until we get one.


Although I am FAR beyond the anime, simply because of the manga, I find myself enjoying it animated, episodes 66-67 were great. I liked watching Sasuke using the Chidori. I could hear the little cherps coming out as he was running towards Gaara which was pretty cool. It is at this point, the plot takes a dramatic turn as bigger things are about to unfold. I have no intention of spoiling it for people whom haven't read the manga, so you'll just have to wait in suspense.

It was also good to see Rock Lee back alive and kicking as well, after getting his ass handed to him by Gaara, plus the fact that Sasuke has surpassed him as far as speed goes, I feel bad for him. Is it just me, or is Sakura just useless? All she does is whine about Sasuke and berate Naruto. No real abilities except the fact that she is smart which the only thing she has going for her. Whine, whine whine, oh I love Sasuke.....give me a break!! :rolleyes:

I can't wait for the next episode as the ---- is about to hit the fan! :D

As for the anime, I wonder how many times there going to change the opening and ending themes? But I actually like both, so there is no problem. Looks like the anime is trying to catch up to the manga now since next week, it should be the end of the fight between Gaara and Naruto.

This is the type of anime I completly HATE

It's the type of crap that keeps me up hours on end downloading each individual episode and drooling for more. Right now I'm up to episode 70 (with 71-75 on the way), right after Azuma saves Shikamaru. This is just sad...I've never been into a series as much as I'm into Naruto right now. Honestly, I've watched these 70 episodes in two days...TWO DAYS! It took me a week to watch all of Last Exile, and I loved that series.

Naruto is easily living up to all the hype. I'm enjoying this series ten times more than I could have ever imagined.

But I'm really not understanding a previous members statement about the characters not being interesting. In my opinion that's what makes this series so amazing; there's just so damn many characters, and most of them are so great that it's hard not to like a good handful of them. I know I'm gonna get torn to sheds by all the fan-girls, but Sasuke is the only characters I don't like. In all honesty this show should have been called Sasuke instead of Naruto. Naruto's the comic relief of the series; I'm amazed he's the "main character." But I digress. This series has one of the largest casts of likeable characters in all my years of watching anime. There’s so much character variety it’s almost staggering. And, unlike the poop called dragon ball, 90% of the characters aren’t useless. Each character’s at just about the same skill level (except Sasuke…of course. Who’s better than everyone by default -_-) and it’s their varying goals, traits and attributes that really set them apart. Roc Lee by far is my favorite right now, but Shino (bug guy) has the potential to kick his ass out of the top spot. His overall attitude and soft spoken, laid back yet serious persona is what really draws me towards him. I've yet to see him fight with anything besides the bugs (kick ass power :thumbup: ), and I can't wait until he does. But until then, Roc’s the man.

At the rate I'm going, I'm going to finish all the up to date episodes. For all those who've read the Manga I have a question: how much further is the manga ahead of the anime? Because once I'm done with all the current episodes, I think it's best if I continued with the manga.

Well....the manga is FAR AHEAD of the anime, so the anime will never catch up to the manga because its that far behind. I still watch Naruto, but it's not exciting because I already know what is going to happen, so I am just reading the manga right now. The manga is probably I say about 2 years ahead of the anime so, yeah read the manga. :)

Actually if you think about it, Gaara as a good guy is not as inconcievable as you may think. If we think about the personality altering effects that Naruto tends to have on other people, then it's easy to see how Gaara can be a good guy now. After all, Gaara went from only loving himself, to actually saying 'thank you' to his brother and sister (which as we know, caught them completely off guard).

Personally, I like the fact that Temari is the one who backs up Shikamaru. :D

You know I honestly never thought of the manga as being originating from online. It shouldnt surprise me considering the fact that naruto I have only seen thanks to fansubbers.

Yeah, I think he has another doll. He used one doll to block the attack directed at Kiba, and when it showed a full body shot of him on the last page, he still had another one wrapped up on his back. It'll be interesting watching him fight with two marionettes (Shino would still beat him though ;) ).

But I love this manga so much, I'd happily pay more.

Also, I can't wait to see how Gaara's going to fight this guy. Lee couldn't beat him, neither could Naruto (given enough time Naruto would win though). I can't wait to see how Gaara's going to pull this one off. He may have the ultimate defensive move in the series, but if he's truly turned "good," would he still have the sand and Shakaku to protect him?

It's able to be penetrated, but it's still the best defensive move in the series. Also, besides the protective sand that springs up automatically, he has that strange spiked barrier he used against Sasuke at the Chuunin exam. It took the Chidori to break through that defense, and it still only wounded his shoulder. From the look of Kinimaro's special abilities (manipulation of bone), I doubt he has attacks that concentrate chakra into an all or nothing single strike like the Chidori, or the Rasengan.

But this will be an interesting fight regardless. You have Roc and Gaara going up against this guy....I can't wait until 213

hmm... i don't think its that much of a ultimate defence the fact is that the hyuga heavens spin is greater the only issue is how they have to do it.. it takes then a few seconds to start to spin.
Gaaras sand wasn't penatrated due to chakra in Rock Lees case it was pure speed and the sand being to slow.
Considering Kinimaros speed matching rock lee kinda and his ablity to manipulate those bones like crazy gaaras defence is pretty much X_X;
also gaara can't attack while in that barrier can he? we never saw if he was able to or not. The only use for it known to us is that he uses it to transform into shukakus form.
right now i think that they all going to retreat back to orochi only to see sasuke ready to fight. then naruto shows up they fight for a bit then sasuke sees itachi and they fight ~_~ maybe im just lacking sleep

Roc didn't penetrate Gaara's defense until he took off his weights.

Look at the last chapter, Lee still has on his weights (I think he does). Kinimaro is only matching the speed of Lee while he's wearing his weights, and he was still taking some shots. Remember, when Roc was fighting Gaara in the Chuunin exam, he didn't land a single shot on Gaara until he removed his weights. Sure, Gaara was surprised that he was almost as fast as the sand, but he didn't get touched until those leg weights were off.

Based on what I know, Gaara should be able to take this guy on by himself, same with Roc. But of course this guy's gonna go level 2 and Gaara's gonna get his ass handed to 'em, same with Roc.

Also about that without weights rock lee almost landed a blow on gaara i think? i gotta rewatch it.

I told you the sands were not fully converted.They are there by orders,just as they had when they attacked Konoha.Now we still don't know what the exact orders are but I'm sure they want more than to help Konoha.Perhaps it's revenge of Orochimaru,perhaps it's something else
