So far Ive watched the first 8 episodes and Im enjoying it. Though not really like what Ive read of the manga (from Newtype), theres more mech action (good thing!) mmm AS battles =)
I didnt like that quick the transition from mech orientated episodes about Chidori/the Whisperers (thats what they were called right) to school oreintated ones, it was like they have totally forgot about the whisper thing. It feels like its a different anime.
Anyway Im enjoying FMP, get around to watching some more later.
Jeez, you Victorians are behind the times
Come to SA where we are just a few days behind Japan when it comes to anime :D
Glad you enjoyed it but imo it goes downhill from now on, tell us what you think after you complete it.

Yeah yeah I know ^^
Goes downhill? Well the past few episodes after the whole whisper thing have been pretty average, the Behemoth episodes were pretty good but a bit short though.

Well finished FMP.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Enjoyable action series, but let down by the plot, it was well too "jumpy". If it concerntrated more on the black technology/whisper thing it would be good.
Ending wise, ugh! I was hoping for a full on lamba drive AS battle against Gauln and Sagara but alas and also a little more background on that Mithril submarine would be nice. And it was a somewhat "open" ending, so who does Sagara chose? Tessa or Chidor? Whats going to happen between Sagara and Chidori now seeing as she isnt targetted?
Also a question from the little FMP manga I have read from Newtype it concerntrates more on Sagara protecting Chidor at school, is the manga anything like the anime?

Ha Ha I knew it. I knew that this series will go down like that, I would admit that the first episodes was good and I was about to get it to, but I still had a bad feeling bout this series, and I guess I was right after all.

Possible Spoilers
I break the serie down like this:
Episodes 1-3: Introduction of the characters. Comedic and very entertaining episodes.
Episodes 4-7: The Whispered Arc that took a more serious twist and was very well done.
Episode 8: Hilarious episode about Souske learning how to date. Pointless? A little. Though it was fun seeing the interaction between Kaname and Sousuke.
Episodes 9-12: Arc with the Behemoth. I thought this arc wasn't very well done and was pretty average. Not near the level of the 1st and 3rd arcs.
Episodes 13-14: Couple of filler episodes. Pointless? Yes. However, I still enjoyed them because they were still fun.
Episodes 15-17: Homeland Arc. IMO, best part of the show. Very well done with plenty of drama.
Episodes 18-19: Another couple of fillers that were still fun and enjoyable for me. Sort of sets the stage for the final arc.
Episodes 20-24: Final arc of the series. Better than the Behemoth Arc, but below the Whispered and Homeland Arcs. I didn't like the anti-climatic ending.
Overall, I still really enjoyed the series. Not the deepest or most complex anime out there, but definitely one of the most entertaining for me. Can't get enough of Sousuke because of how brainless the guy is. Completely lacking in common sense but is so hilarious to watch because he is basically serious all the time.
orochi X: The anime was based off the novels written in 1998. The manga is a different thing. I've read a little over a volume and it still follows the same basic story, but it seems to go more for comedy than the anime did(season 1). Sousuke is actually more of an idiot, which I really got a kick out of. Last I read, they were getting into the Whispered Arc.

I liked the whole idea it had potential but it was just executed badly, the fight between the Behemoth and Sagara's AS could of been real good.

FMP is a anime with lots of different things, action, mystery, comedy, etc. They jump around alot because they are trying give you a background of the characters so you feel like you know them more i think. I think it was always planned to have series after that deal with specific things. Like the series #2 that deals directly with school, etc.

Yeah I bought the Mission 1 DVD, heard it was good stuff. Very good stuff, comedy, action, romance, and damn mecha! Arm Slaves are like, better animated Patlabors. Yeah, first thing that grabs my attention is Kaname Chidori, hot, sensible, human. Next comes Melissa Mao, ex-Marine, big bust, human. Then the Arm Slaves... I ain't going to discuss them.

I find it interesting that for an anime that was average when it was released, the sequel managed to be one of the best releases of 2003.
. Yeah, first thing that grabs my attention is Kaname Chidori, hot, sensible, human.
I really don't like Kaname too much, nor Melissa. Everyone knows it's ALL about Tessa!!! :o :o
Definatly all about tessa lol.
Anyways, I like this series A lot, it was very entertaining for me. It didn't have an ending that almost made me cry like Bepop lol but it was good IMO. I am halfway through Fumoffu now =)
