How much .hack is there?

I am totally lost. I am trying to get into the series, but I don't know exactly where to start?:confused: How many series are there!!?

Hmmmm well the first series is called ".hack//sign" it has 27 eps but #27 is kindof a recap throuigh the eyes of Mimiru. Then there are the games (4) and also 4 OVA's. The 4 OVA's are called ".hack//liminality". Uhmm theres a manga but I haven't read it yet so I can't tell you much about that and there's also ".hack//dusk", but I haven't seen that either ha sorry maybe someone else can fill you in on them :)

You can start with .hack//SIGN. It's designed to be accessible for anyone who has no clue what the whole .hack world is about. From what I hear, everything else (games, OVAs, etc) takes off after SIGN.

.hack//dusk....yea i saw 4 episodes of it recently. its pretty good. basically 2 junior high kids win a contest in The World and are givin the sprites of Kite and Black Rose (game series). The new Kite is knocked out by a lvl 45 monster in a biggners area and is givin the braclet of the twilight by that wierd floating girl in a white dress (i havent finished watching sign so i dont know what she is exactly) that allows him to defeat nearly anything by draining off its power. It was pretty good and funny, definatly for younger people.

In chronological order:

.hack//SIGN - 27 episode series
The 4 .hack PS2 games, and .hack//LIMINALITY, the accompanying OVA (1 episode comes with each game)
.hack//DUSK (also known as .hack//tasogare no udewa densetsu, or .hack//The Legend of Twilight's Bracelet) - Originally a manga series, now also a 13 episode anime series.

I think there's also a book, called AI Busters, which I think comes before SIGN, though I don't know for certain. I don't know if that will ever be translated.

There is a third PS2 game due out soon but I can't remember the name, a fourth one is due later this year I believe

The game's take place roughly about 4 year's after //SIGN or maybe I'm getting myself mixed up again and //DUSK takes place 4 years after //SIGN, well in any case

The game's run after the events of //SIGN, while the game concentrates on story within the game, //LIMINALITY takes place mostly outside the game and runs around the same time as the games

It is an 4 episodes OAV called .hack//LIMINALITY that comes with the 4 PS2 games (1 DVD with each games).

Each episode is 30 minutes long except for the first wich is 45 minutes long.

The story follow some events that occur in the real world instead of in "The World".
