If you've bothered to watch the sub and dub, you'll note major changes in the characters.
Orphen
SUB: Loud, obnoxious and sure of himself.
DUB: Reserved, mature and quiet.
Cleao
SUB: Irritating, strong-willed and less noticable.
DUB: Almost completely stuck-up, somewhat womanly.
Majic
SUB: Quiet, unsure and mature.
DUB: Less of a sissy-boy, sarcastic at times and sounds more sure of himself.
Have you noticed the changes, if so, what did you think?

Well I wouldn't say major, but there is a lot of difference between the sub and the dub. And it's not just characters. There was one scene that was changed completely from the original. But having not watched the sub version I can't say that I'm a real expert on this. But two characters you mentioned interest me.
Orphen
SUB: Loud, obnoxious and sure of himself.
DUB: Reserved, mature and quiet.
Now this I'm a bit of both ways on. I think at times the dub showed Orphen in all 6 of the qualities. A lot of times in fights Orphen would be Loud, obnoxious and sure of himself. Heck that describes him in every fight. So I don't think that the two Orphen's are all that different
Majic
SUB: Quiet, unsure and mature.
DUB: Less of a sissy-boy, sarcastic at times and sounds more sure of himself.
Now this I agree on. I like the Dub Majic. The sub it probably truer to an apprentice, but Smart-Ass Majic is so much funnier. Just look at the first time we see Orphen and Majic. In the dub Majic is on Orphen's back about missing the bottle. It's a funny scene. But in the dub, it just seems like a normal scene. So I think ADV made a right choice with this one.
So while the dub might not be true to the word of the original, at least it's funnier. And just as long as they don't substitute comedy for storyline, I can't say that I really care all that much

Revenge I can safely say allows the sub stars to shine - I tell ya, there is no way they'll be able to pull off a mature, reserved Orphen! Majic finds his niche as the abused (oh how Orphen and Cleao abuse him...!) apprentice, and they'd have to stick with that because it has alot to do with the story near the end. He's also their source for town info, humiliation, and oddly...he's a lady's man, go figure.
Hartia is truly the same in dub and sub - though he sounds a bit more wimpy in the dub - but it suits him. ^^
