So, uh, did anyone see episode 1 tonight. I missed it but I hear the edits (or most of them) are to be taken out... It's to be a full 26 episode series now. Season 2 starts Sunday August 3rd at 11p.m. (e/p). Thoughts on any of this?

Yeah I did last night and I forgot how good this show was. Taking out the edits I think put a real sexual tension between Roger and Dorothy that I hadn't noticed before, well as much sexual tension as there can be between man and robot.

So is there gonna be anything between them? LOL
The ending theme song makes one wonder if the show is gonna have a love angle.

So far I don't really get what I'm watching.
Roger Smith reminds me kinda of Bruce Wayen and Batman LOL.

Yes, I've been watching the show. So far all the edit lists I've seen posted to usenet (which I believe get to AnimeNewsNetwork.com eventually) have said the episodes are completely unedited. However, one of the B&W text cards CN shows during AS does say something like The Big O is uncut, "well, for the most part". I guess there's something in there that they couldn't put back even on AS.

The ending theme is nice and does seem to be a bit of a love song. So yeah, it makes you wonder if the show's going to have some romantic story line in there as well. And yes, it does have a Batman feel sometimes, particularly the car and the butler, IMO. I'm not completely sure I get the idea of the story either. What I do keep wondering about though is why the people in the city have no memories going back more than X years ago and what happened to cause this memory loss. I'm hoping this part gets explained eventually because it does get mentioned in the show every now and then.

i also agree on the whole batman thing. roger is bruce because hes got the car as the bat mobile, hes got the mansion, the butler, hes well known, the city reminds me of gotham city, and hes got the cool gadgets like on his watch it kinda controls the car and in the car he can talk to the butler and stuff. and he even wears black.everything fits except for the Big O itself and dorothy. well... i guess dorothy could be robin?... just making connections :heh:

I don't know about you guys but having an android matched up with a human is so sick lol...It makes for an interesting plot, but it is sooooo weird...It's so impossible to have some sexual innuendos between robots and humans!! Who thinks this stuff up anyways?!

I wouldn't call it sick.

and it's pretty obvious who thinks it up, The people who created the show, durh.

and it's really not impossible to have innuendo with Dorothy, she's rather lifelike.....minus the emotions.....well, save for a few.

OK, that's the obvious that creators think it up but I was going towards the idea of it not being original...There are so many anime that have humans matched up with androids...Just think, who would do that in reality? That's all I'm trying to say.

anything can happen in anime :D but doesnt mean it happens in real life. they just try to think of weird stuff to make people watch. and androids with humans... thats weird.

The sexual tension is quite intended and is an element of many robot/perscon/android/(insert any non-humanoid sentient being here) the story. Is it needed? Not really, but it keeps the peeps not in control of their hormones yet tuned in.

But, CN edits everything for content, even if it's something as lame as taking out blood, even on AS. Avoid the frustration, buy the subbed ones if you can.
