We see it every now and then and it's apparent especially in RahXephon where there is a strong "Red vs Blue" which I believe holds some sort of philosaophicla meaning or similair.
Does anyone have any information regarding this thing?

This is a complicated subject that stems from the old saying....
Roses are "red" , violets are "blue"...
I mean EVERYone Knows... that Violets are Violet~!
I mean if Violets were blue... Then They should be called BLUES~!
I'm so glad RahXephon clears this up...

What does it take to be a human? For me it runs along these lines... red is human what can be identified and must be accepted as human... blue is Mulian - an alien colour to the human body, it must not be human therefore it can be treated as such... when Ayato discovers his blood contains an MU phase and returns to Tokyo as much is said in regards to what will happen to him if he is caught... when he leaves Tokyo Jupiter again we can see the same kind of treatment through the anti Mulian propaganda advertisments... in the days of slavery Africans were viewed as a subhuman species and were treated as animals... in World War Germany Jews were herded into camps, worked like slaves and packed into ovens and killed without any distinct analysis of their 'humanity'... although the case of the Mulians is somewhat different, the opposition of human versus non human in the 'human' perception is what is at the base of it...
I didn't really feel there was any more significance to the exact colours used in this context... but I could be wrong

Umm.. Mulians aren't slaves...
They are Alien invaders....
It's WAR... Did you know that All the News Channels on Broadcast TV in the USA was moderated during the War on Iraq just in June?
That's exactly what the propaganda is...
[b]The Mu are a race that Could inherit the world... But It was Ayato's choice of either Red or Blue...
That is the significance... Shinji has the choice of Running away from the "Red" blood of Rei or the "White" Baby Butter on his hands in Episodes 1 and in Episode 26' (aka. End of Eva).
He has to contemplate like Ayato in Episodes 1 with Asahina's red blood on his hand and and blue blood of his mother...
Shinji has to decide who he should trust... In the end the blood didn't matter... He chose to go with his mother's plan...

mm, but red and blue are used in a lot of other contexts where we've got two "powers" workign against eachotehr sortof.
Many yin/yang signs feature yin in red and yang in blue or vice versa (Can't remember)
yeah I know that the mulians aren't slave I was aiming at a fundamental idea of how 'humans' treat each other based on a superficial thing like colour...
heh as for people that could inherit the earth... that phrasing kinda brings to mind a perception of the Jews ;)

Isn't blue the colour of non-oxygenated blood, and red oxygenated? Maybe it relates to that...

On a more serious note...
Red and Blue blood flows through all our veins and exist in harmony...
And that's the way Ayato wants it to be...
