The retuning of the world was to put everything back to "normal" before all the "bad" stuff happened, right? So that means no more of those blue blooded mulians and the whole Foundation thing with that guy that's lived for a very long time? It pretty much seemed that everyone wanted the retuning to happen...

The thing is, what is the point, that is the motivation of everyone who orchistrated everything (barbem and maya, etc), of everything happening if the point of everything happening was to make it as if it had never happened?

eh?! :confused2

Edit: Yes? No? Maybe so?

You should notice that time wasn't turned back...

Haruka and Ayato simply are living happily...

We know Quon is alive, but everything else is for your imagination...

You said everyone wanted the returning to happen...

I would instead call it a retuning... of time and space...

Everyone had their reasons... Maya/Yui wanted Ayato/Shinji to be happy...

Ayato/Shinji wanted to overcome his cowardice and express his love to Asuka/Haruka...

Barbem/Keel wanted to create a god.

Quon/Rei loved Shinji/Ayato as a friend and wished for his happiness...

ah time not turned back, k, k

The story still seems basicly like a love story that's made a lot more complex for the sake of being complex

That's some mom to go through all that just to make sure her son ends up happy

And even if Barbem did succeed in creating a god, how does that help him personally? In Eva, Keel wanted 3rd Impact to happen because of his beliefs and views on the human condition, not just to be able to say to himself, 'I created a god... damn, I own so hardcore'

'I created a god... damn, I own so hardcore'-Keel-

I think that's exactly what he said to himself right before he turned to LCL...

Do you actually Believe that someone like Chairman Keel would do all that just to "Save Humanity?" No... He wanted to do it his way...

Not Gendou's way... not anyone elses...

'I created a god... damn, I own so hardcore'-Keel-

If you think about it... Keel absolutely said that

Well, in the last episode Lord Bahbem said to the reporter guy that how the Tuning changed the world depended on the two who had attained Yoteotle (or however you spell that). Basically, Quon and Ayato were in control of the Tuning (just as in Eva Shinji was at least partially in control of 3rd impact).

So they choose to make it at least a partial reversal of some of what had happened...many of the deaths etc. But I dont think Time was affected, I think some people were restored to life and some things changed.

Overall, I really wish a bit more time had been spent on explaining/playing out the Tuning, Yoteotle, etc.

the point? selling more advertising time i guess. i mean, the plot elements have been done many times before, and the story certainly wasn't anything worth while, what with all the unexplained crap and such. i finished watching the run on "g4" this weekend, and ultimately it was an unsatisfying, pointless series filled with typical pretentious cliches.

Well in my experience, most Anime has a lot of unexplained things in it. And the "pretentious cliches" you mentioned are also pretty common across anime.

One of the things I love about anime is it simulataneously has a variety of conventions and tropes that one can enjoy picking up on in various series and that give one a sort of "at home" feeling, yet at the same time each new anime series I see introduces ideas and concepts I've never seen before (generally)

Well, after seeing the OVA, and re-watching it again for the 3rd time... it finally hit me.. it's about Resurrection and Recreation of the world.. but from multiple points of view. 1 from Christian - & that's stretch but the underlying theme is there, 2 from a couple's point of view of a relationship that's been brought back together, 3 it's so cool how the world is "re-created" and all the lives that were lost are "re-born." Really cool theme but a REALLY weird way of showing it.

The music is just awesome and is as much of the show as the anime itself... just wonderful.

The point of it all.... kinda like the phoenix, life from death....
