I don't play mmorpgs but if .hack became a real one...I would be tempted especially if the game is well integrated with the TV/OVA series.

Won't work: Tsukusa wouldn't get anywhere because he would be swamped by hordes of drooling fangirls.

If they made Hack/sign into a mmorpg...
I would buy it...
And I'd probably sue for false advertising if it doesn't put me in a coma...
Maybe instead I should buy copies and send them to people I really didn't like...

if a real morpg version of "The World" was made, then it would sell REALLY WELL, becuase of the exposure for this non-existant game. if it was made though, id like it to have the same character skins as the anime/games, but NOT related to the storyline. i just think it would be better that way

Well I've played INFECTION and MUTATION plus I have a copy of OUTBREAK but at this point I don't have a PS2 to play it on - AGHHHHH!
I've seen the first five eps of the series (DVD vol 1) and I found myself laughing at all the game references while my friend looked blank faced and continued to think I'm mad.
I can see why the producers wanted to play the games and watch the show around the same time in Japan as having played through INFECTION has left what I assume will be the major plot twists in the series pretty much straight up.
Of course there is the manga as well, and the novel, and the radio drama, and the drame CDs and the other anime & OAVs...
and of course the upcoming .hack card game - what massive plot points will we get from that?
.hack//INEVITABILITY would be nice to play at least for the fanboys.

I just finnished playing ".Hack//G.U. Vol. 1" And I'm addicted to the series... I would love it, if a real version of it came out.
I'd definately want to play it, although it would be controversial since people would be comparing it to the games/anime constantly.

there is an mmorpg of .hack, its called Fragment (see the point?) but it sold so bad and without publicity, that none heard about it nd it never got out of japan. i also heard it played on a limited server exclusive to this game

The concept of an MMORPG based on the .hack world that takes place within a deteriorating gaming universe absolutely intrigues me. However, it would need a great budget and design team and some fantastic marketing in order to really attract a significant playerbase. I have tonnes of ideas, but there's no point in addressing them as I doubt it will ever be done after the terrible demise of .hack//frägment
It's a good thing we have you to revive year-old threads about topics no one except you cares about anymore.

I think it would suck hardcore. My reasonining:
1. Games which have popularity from other media (TV, Movies) tend towards being poorly implemented for the simple reason that they'll sell ANYWAY. .hack would be no different. (Example: Most Pixar games, Star Wars games etc)
2. People who make games, people who make RPGs/MMOs, and people who write stories are all different. What is great in story is awful in reality, etc. I can't give any specific examples, but I'll explain why I think this.
An MMO writer has to think from a mathematical perspective. They need to balance classes, balance economy and balance gameplay. It's all numbers (DPS etc). Someone writing a story for a non-interactive environment is used to control. Angles, plot development etc. Someone writing for a game is probably earning significantly less and only tasked with filling-in story stuff. This can lead to really disjointed or otherwise b0rked stories.
3. Because its an MMO, and an asian one, it would follow that you'd end up with a ------ grind or a grind that hurts your storyline immersion (see point 2). Example: Star Wars MMO (as an example of storyline immersion breaking)

If you're worried about the age of the conversation, perhaps you should try chat rooms?
If you're worried about your women leaving you, perhaps you should try dying alone.

That makes no sense. Not when taken in the context of the conversation.

Ken, your responses make DraniX's rubbish worth reading.
As for a .hack MMO, I agree that it would "suck hardcore" but I prefer to imagine the one that wouldn't but will never be made.
If it were anything like the ps2 games I would Buy it, but then again, Be honest, what would split it apart from other MMorpgs
Like WOW And co. Although if It were virtual reality as in, .hack//liminality: in the case of mai minase. I would kill people to get at it.
