What class would you be?
Longarm
Twin Blade
Blade Master
Heavy Blade
Heavy Axman
Wave Master.

I think I'd eaither be a Twin Blade, or a Wave Master.

Seems like Wave Master is the most mage-like class in that game so that's probably what I'd pick. Mage types are always my favorites.

Heavy Axeman

Nilrem

Who wants quick and easy (usually not good against armoured PC's and NPC's;)), an axe is much more satisfying, you can't beat the solid "thwunk" as you lop someone/somethings arm/leg/tentical off

Mind you I wouldn't mind setting a herd of Grunties on something:lol:

Where is the Gruntie Farmer job class huh?! :D

I'd be a Wavemaster... Mages are always my favorite class :) I wish I could have chosen my class in the video game.. instead I got stuck as a Twin Blade.

because all i really care about is pvp domination, i'd "roll" (power level into usefullness) whatever template was the strongest at a given time -untill they patch it's unbalance out with game updates, at which point i'd reroll.

i've played alot of offencive mages and alot of stealth melees, i like winning pvp the most. ;p

Kyrakasa

Wavemaster and probably Heavy Axe....

I'd play both... One on each computer...

But I've always found casters more fun...

Subaru's a heavy Axe right? I mean it doesn't look that heavy though...

I'd want to be a magic swordsman :D
Even if it was basic magic and an average sword it seems that depending on how YOU control and use the sword an average sword could easily be the best depending on how you use it.

Magic could just be a nice side weapon ;)

But that's me, I always want the best of both worlds

Kyrakasa
17-09-03, 12:33 AM
In RPG's if you split your discipline...

You almost always turn out mediocre in both magic and sword...

So maybe just some magic to turn invisible and heal...

Ah but like I said it seems that even if the sword aspect is mediocre it seems to depend on more personal skill.

The battles don't look like a mouse and keyboard fight it looks like they are actually controlling how they use the sword, how they block, how the react, how the attack.

Even if the sword is mediocre a skilled swordsman can easily turn the worst of swords into a weapon of epic perportions thus average magic and with enough training a super swordsman.

What you want to be is a super swordsman... with some magic...

So like I said you just want a little magic to heal or something else...

But RPG's are modeled on real life... where if you're a Stud swordsman then you won't have time to become a master mage.

Both of which requires time and effort...

So you can't be Michael jordan and bill gates...

now now Kyrakasa, if you've got the time to kill you can make an uber toon! it's all in how extreem you want to be, eg, not or barely playable till hitting the level cap, and then super powerfull.

but it really all comes down to the game dynamics like skill balance, you can't fight against really bad balance no matter how much you want.

Gunblade
18-09-03, 12:53 PM
Just some magic some standard fireballs, nothing big. Healing etc. Yeah something along that plus great swordsmanship but problem is in this day and age all we have is a keyboard and mouse so the ability to really control your own sword is abit faraway.

In .Hack it seems everything relies, to some extent, on your own skill. Of course stats help. Though I don't think it has any magic swordsman in that game... Shame.

Think Final Fantasy. Or in my case number 8. I love the Gunblade (Of course) imagine you could control how you use it personally and then have the magic on the side to use on occasion while your primary weapon is the sword. That's a game I'd really want to play.

*dreams again*

trust me, i know (even though Kyrakasa may think it's UT2k) what your talking about. hyrbid and extreams played a powerfull part in AC pvp. it wasn't uncommon for people to roll templates that weren't "mature" (didn't get all their skills) till the level cap, and that were really powerfull because of it.

things like a magic defence/unarmed combat spec with no melee defence trained. it relied on it's mage level magic's, but instead of "war magic" (the 1 [of 4] schools that delt huge damage), they spec'd unarmed combat or sword. i mean, a melee offence that doesn't have any melee defence trained?! hehe, they ruled because they would fight mages that couldn't land a spell through there magic defence spec, and couldn't evade their melee offence.

Gunblade
18-09-03, 07:14 PM
I'd like some melee defence though ^_^
Though if you were good with a sword you wouldn't even need to take a blow eh? :D

AC pvp? No clue, Dungeons and Dragons stylee?

ParticleEffect
19-09-03, 01:29 PM
AC = Asheron's Call, very very non dnd combat. Unconventional. That template bypassed meleeD to be able to go toe to toe with a mage, since mages dominated AC pvp. it couldn't land melee attacks on a full on melee character of the same level, but it wasn't supposed to. it was basically a mage that used a melee weapon for attacking instead of magic. just an example of the extream hybrids that once owned in AC.

Heard of the game but i prefer my japanese styled rpgs :)
Was it real time combat or turn based?

Kyrakasa
19-09-03, 08:04 PM
What you would want to look into is the new Final Fantasy Online Adventure that's coming this winter.

As with Particle Effect All he wants is to exploit bugs in Asheron's call, then whine when the bugs are fixed.

/want some cheese with the whine?

real time, it's the only way to fly. Kyrakasa is just jelous because she can't handle the bass. (girls seldom can) ;)

::Kyrakasa points at Particleeffect:: "You better watch it dwarf, or someone might step on you..."

particleeffect has some great MSpaint skills... but too bad his "lightning bolt" hit a person named "Dadune"... If you look closely at the text messages.

Kyrakasa laughs, "You fool, your feeble magics have no use here... Go back to the hole you came from"

A blademaster. I dont like claymores (heavy blade type) or swords that are too small (dual blade). Gimme a katana or longsword.

I'd be the wavemaster because I do better with magic, but I like swords too...
So why not a magic casting- sword swinging- assassin!!!

I'd definitely be a Twin-Blade.

Speed, agility... decent weapons and magic.

Customized.. Ninja style.

Definately a Long Arm. Give me a nice good spear or a glaive! Preferrable a glaive, I like to slice things. I shall now go worship my idol, Crim.

twin blade or blade master of course ^^. i loves me swords :D plus i think twin blade is an equal balance of sorts so that would be my first choice.

I'd prolly be a wavemaster or a twin blade, or perhaps a heavy blade... no actually i think i would be a hacker like helba...

19-12-04, 03:39 PM
im only speakin from experience from the game but i would definitely be a BLADEMASTER
i just think orca and balmung are super cool, plus they hav terrific HP and SP stats unlike a heavyblade who has incredibly low SP. Great balance between attack, defense, and skill.
but isn't ur character chosen from the a quiz u take before beginning the game? this is an assumption i drew from when shugo in twilight said he became a twinblade cuz he said he was ambidextrous..... oh well! please tell me otherwise if im wrong

Well, I have no idea what a "Longarm" is. In fact most of the .hack classes seem odd to me.

And "Wave Master" sounds like a mage who specializes in water, not a general mage class.

But, thats probably what I'd be. Magic all the way.

Edit: I take it from an above post that "longarm" is basically "polearm wielder", like Crim?

warlock
30-12-05, 01:55 PM
Definitely a wave master, that's the wizard/sorcerer type class right??

I always wanted to use magic but reality sucks, hehe!!!

tyciol

I always love mages so Wavemaster since that's the only mage class I can see. If not that then Longarm, that's people who use long polearms like Krim right? Doubleblade is cool like Sora though... dang.
