Yep. Full Metal Panic 2 - 01.avi is here. Some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a long while. Too bad doesn't look like there'll be mechas though. :(
i heard they are using the half-episode movies for FMP, and there will be a greater focus on campus comedy.

oh oh? how many eps are planned?
Not really sure, but from the conversation, it seems that FMP2 is "13 eps long" (a full episode being 2 x 12 minute eps stuck together). What this can be interpreted as is either:
26 x 12 minute eps
or
6.5 x 24 minute eps

From animenfo, it says 15 episodes.

I read that it would be 11 episodes long.
Yeah really funny the 1st ep was, I love the ending too, how they put every character in chibi form

From what I have heard, it was originally planned to be 12-episodes. However, they are going to not air one of the episodes because there was a child abduction in the episode and there had been a major case of child kidnapping cases in Japan at that time.
Anyways, I downloaded episode 1 on my 56k. It was a pain in the ass with the 16-hour wait, but well worth it. Don't care if I have to download every episode on 56k because it's hilarious stuff. Had to watch it twice because of how funy and entertaining it was. It might be lacking in story for this season, but that won't bother me as long as it makes me laugh my ass off with every new episode. I am also amazed by how they made Sousuke's character even more of an idiot, which is a big plus to me since I could never get enough of him in season 1 and the manga. Also, there's more Kaname Chidori, one of my favorite female anime characters in anime. :)
Speaking of the manga(which it seems to be based off of), this seems to be loosely based on it. I remember the first part of episode 1 in chapter 1 of the manga, though they changed things around with it. They kept the same character designs as the 1st season, which was different than the manga. I'm very pleased with how Kyoto Animation handled it. I was unsure of them working on this project because it would be them rather than GONZO, but they did a very good job. The same nice, sharp animation as the 1st series and some pretty well done CGI. Heh, I like the school president. I remember his exact same reaction to Sousuke blowing up the school lockers in the manga. Hilarious stuff.
Also, the very first scene of the episode reminded me of something from GTO. The way the head teacher ran into the principal's office and erratically complained about the damages that Sousuke caused with the principal shrugging it off and basically doing nothing about it. Sounds like they took it right out of GTO.
Also, I dig the ED. It's done by Mikuni Shimokawa, the singer who did the OP and ED for season 1, both songs which I really liked. And I like the little chibi-characters in the ED animation. I wonder about the OP though. I'm thinking that this might be a RahXephon deal where episode 1 didn't have an OP, but episode 2 and on do.

To clear up confusion about the episode count, I found this on Anime-Keep's homepage.
Concerning Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu Episodes 1 & 2, As you may have noticed, this is both Episodes 1 & 2. No this is not a mistake, it really is Episodes 1 & 2. After hours of careful research at NewType's website, we have discovered that Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is going to be 15 episodes long airing 11 times meaning some will be two episodes packed into one, like this one, but as for the ones that will air solo, they will be full 25 minute episodes meaning you can expect full 11 x 25 minute episodes from this show.
just checking, is this set after season one, in between, or ive even heard is a 'different dimension' type thing
I'm buying the first season DVDs as they release, so I have only seen eps. 1-12 of the original. Does Fumoffu spoil the first series?

Judging from the 1st 3-episodes(technically 2), you'd be perfectly fine in watching Fumoffu. So far, it's basically been all comedy and hasn't done anything with the story(doesn't look like they will either). 12-episodes would be perfectly fine since you've been introduced to most of the main characters and you get familiar with them.
Anyways, episode 3 was hilarious(technically epiode 2). Not as funny as episodes 1 and 2(technically episode 1), but still hilarious stuff. Amazes me how they can make Sousuke even dumber than before. My favorite part was the watermelon smashing game. They blindfold Sousuke and give him a bat, telling him to move a little to the left to break the watermelon. He walks far to the left and pulls out a shotgun, blasting the watermelon to peices. They also threw in a refenrece to The Matrix and Raiders of the Lost Arc. I also liked the Chidori fan-service. ;)
Also, the OP was nice. Good song done by Mikuni Shimokawa, and very nice animation.
So far, this second season has been good. I was hoping for a more consistent tone throughout the series, and thus far it has maintained that. It's doubly good since it's pure comedy. Sousuke is a bit extreme in his military ways, but then again all those instances in the first 3 episodes were near comedy gold.
It's good they kept the characters in tact. I just may enjoy this season better than the last.

Just finished watching the first three (or two) episodes, and I must say that it was funny as hell!!! Haven't laughed so hard in along time. The relationship between Chidori and Souske keeps getting wierder and wierder! Chidori treats Souske worse than Naru treated Keitaro in Love Hina. Episode 2 had to be favorite though. Their unqiue concept of "teamwork" was very funny. Overall, I am impressed with what I have seen so far. It seems like the comedic route was a good move after all. I wonder how will this all end since this is the more light-hearted side of Full Metal Panic. I am hoping it will be another season after this one since this one seems to have no correlation with the first one. Can't wait for the next episode!!!:D:lol:

Just watched episode 4+5 last night. More hilarious stuff.
Episode 4 was pretty funny with the class doing an outdoor art project, which some how led to it being a warzone where Sousuke lefts tons and tons of traps all over the place to prevent the whole class(including Kaname) from capturing him.
Episode 5 was an absolute riot. Geez, it was easily the funniest episode in the series so far, which is saying quite a bit. When Sousuke hopped into the Bonta-kun costume and stated kicking ass, I just couldn't stop laughing. You see this big, giant, human-sized bear running around and taking down a bunch of guys and making the "Fumoffu" sound it always makes. Hilarious!
Also a couple references to Street Fighter when Sousuke(in the Bonta-kun costume) did a flying-bear press(Zangief) and a Dragon Uppercut.
This show is absolutely hilarious. I haven't seen many anime that can make me laugh this hard. I can't help feeling a little sorry for Sousuke (seeing how utterly clueless he is) but that doesn't stop me from laughing my ass off at him.
Episode 2 was great... That bicycle chase was awesome, with the overreacting from Sousuke and that psycho policewoman. Bonta-kun in episode 5 was perfect! And episode 3... I'll just say that all the episodes were hilarious.
The animation is really good too. Sometimes it looks even better than the first season, although that may just be me.

That part was funny as hell... but you have to wonder how Sousuke can get away with running around armed to the teeth all the time!

Those parts were great! There was also a reference to one of the James Bond movies, with the guy who throws the hat that can cut through stone.

Oh yeah, I have to say that Bonta-kun is now my new hero, hence the change in avatar to the absolutely histerical scene of him stomping the hell out of the poor gangster's "special" part. :goof: Would've come out better, but I had to cut out a frame and shrink it down to fit the avatar restrictions on this board. Oh well, still god damned hilarious. :D
 That poor gangster. I don't know if even a guy like that deserves to be whooped by an oversized Bonta-kun. That's a great clip!
I just rewatched the episodes again, and they're just as hilarious the second time. I can't wait for the next episode(s) to come out.

Just watched parts 4 and 5. All I have to say that Bonta-kun is my hero!!! That man is gangsta! Part 5 is the funniest so far out of the four parts. I wonder how Sousuke feels now that Chidori spilled out some of her feelings towards him? Dang, I can't wait for the next episode!:D
I thought episode 5 was a riot, but episode 6 was one of the funniest things I have ever seen. I couldn't stop cracking up... I don't know, something about Bonta-kun along w/ that maniac cop... man.
I swear, I got tears on my cheek.

Just wrapped up parts 6 and 7. Part six was very....weird. A guy with a ponytail fetish??!!! Not to mention he was wearing the head of a pony!!!? Once again, Bonta-kun steals the show! He's funny as hell, not to mention he put up a good fight against Wakana Youko-san. She was funny too!! The battle between her and Bonta-kun was too sweet. Overall, I enjoyed part 6.
Part 7, I felt was probably the weakest so far, in terms of comedy. Don't get me wrong, I still laughed, but it just didn't have the comedic umph the the first few parts had. This one pretty much focused on trying to scare Sousuke which of course, he isn't scared of anything. I thought the ending was pretty cute when he finally admitted that he was scared of............well you'll have to watch it to find out!:D
I am really have a good time with this. This has turned out to be one of the best anime/comedies of this year.:D

Episode 6 was great since Bonta-kun made another appearence. I thought it was great how Sousuke took the costume he stole from Fumo-land and threw in all these nifty gadgets to make it a fighting machine. I love how the translator was still left intact so everytime Sousuke said something, the costume would say, "Fumoffu." The fight between him and the crazy cop was great. It was also great when Sousuke(in the Bonta-kun outfit) was talking to the Pony man.
Episode 7 was fun, though not as funny as the rest of the episodes. Heh, the ghost story Kaname was telling right at the beggining was also told in GTO. That Sousuke sure is something to not be scared of any of the "ghosts" that kept popping out of no where in the hospital. I liked it when Kaname was bringing Sousuke everywhere and showing him freaky things, trying to get a reaction out of him.
GOing into more depth with the fight, I swear some of the scenes had to have been taken out of some other anime titles. When Bonta-kun and the cop were clashing swords(not swords, but you get the idea), it was like Inuyasha when Inuyasha and Hiten were battling. Some of the swords moves performed looked like it was taken right out of Rurouni Kenshin. When they pulled out the guns and went into slow motion, it reminded me of Trigun.
Bonta-kun!
The way Sousuke turned Bonta-kun into a high-tech war machine was hilarious. Luckily he didn't overlook the importance of equipping the bear with appropriate clothing! The ponytail fetish theme was kind of bizarre but the fighting was awesome and the episode was hilarious.
I thought Episode 7 was good as well. Overall it wasn't as funny but there were some hilarious parts. The story Chidori was telling at the beginning was great. I loved it when Chidori was pointing at everything and freaking out, and Sousuke wasn't spooked a bit. It was sweet when he got scared for her, though. Awwww!

Any ideas for what new upgrades Sousuke should put on Bonta-kun? Personally, I think he needs to add a jetpack. :) I wanna see Bonta-kun fly! :) Maybe he can wear some brass knuckles(though that wouldn't really work too well since Bonta-kun's hand are just a circle :goof: ).
"It's a bird! It's a plane! It's... BONTA-KUN!!"
I can see it. Or maybe some kind of cloaking device, so that when some thugs attack Chidori, he can pop out of nowhere and scare them with his evil Bonta-kun face.
I don't know about you, but I think it'd be pretty freaky to see a giant stuffed bear appear out of thin air. :D

Where are you guys getting these episodes? I can't find any good Fserves on mirc...
Just get it at animesuki...
I want a AS-sized Bonta-kun, complete with Lamba driver. Heh.
 Yeah! Enough of these stupid mechas. I think a giant Bonta-kun would set a new trend for mechanized combat!
I can see it now... a shot of a forest... and over the tops of the trees, you can see Bonta-kun's ears, creeping along!
That also raises the option of possible Godzilla crossover episodes.

If ADV does pick this up, I'd like to see how they try to market it. With season 1, all their covers have to have a mech on it. The only mech in Fumoffu is Bonta-kun. :p I wouldn't mind having a 3-dsic release with Bonta-kun on all the covers. :)
They better pick this up! This show is absolutely hilarious and I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
As for the covers, they could do something along the lines of the reverse of the first season covers - images of Sousuke, Chidori, and other people. I like your Bonta-kun idea, though. I'm sure they could find images with different poses for him! That'd be great.
And, because I'm such a hopeless sucker for stuffed animals, they should have a boxset with a plush Bonta-kun! :kawaii:
Ahem.

Damn, looks like Fumoffu took a little 2-week break from airing in Japan. They will resume again with episodes 8+9 on October 6.
More Fumoffu goodness! *spoilers ahead*
I liked episodes 8 and 9. Good stuff. We finally get to find out who that green/blue haired chibi during the ending credits is, although I can never remember his name.
A true Indiana Jones moment in episode 8, when Sousuke whipped out his gun and shot that poor karate guy down. Hilarious! Where does Sousuke keep all those weapons, anyway? He's got to have huge pockets. I'm not sure if I liked the ending to episode 8, where the karate captain puts on his glasses and then becomes some kind of nerd. That was strange.
Episode 9 was awesome, and probably one of my favorites so far. That poor janitor. It was cute to see Sousuke and karate-captain-guy all competitive. I was hoping to see some kind of huge pitched battle between them but their attempts to be helpful to that janitor were much more funny than a battle could have been. I loved that scene when Kaname looks out the window to see Sousuke and that guy battling over that bench. But the ending when the janitor goes absolutely insane was the best comedic moment I've seen in awhile (well, since Sousuke jumped into that Bonta-kun outfit).
Damn, I love this show. I really, really wish it was out on dvd already. This has to be the funniest comedic anime I've ever seen, since it's just so downright crazy and hilarious.

I finished watching episodes 8 and 9. Truly some funny stuff going on here. Especially episode 9, when that guy went crazy with the chainsaw!!! Some great stuff going on. Possibly one of the best releases this year. Now, I am waiting for Tessa to grace us with her appearance!:D
Unfortunately, no Tessa in episode 10, ACE.
**SPOILERS**
Mmmm... episode 10 wasn't quite as funny, IMO. Of course, it was hilarious seeing Sousuke as a drill sergeant. He seemed like he was having way too much fun with it. So kind for Mao to provide him with all those notes on bullying "recruits". But it was a bit scary seeing those peace-loving wimps turn into glowing-eyed bullies by the end.
Kaname looks good with braids.

I am kind of disappointed that Tessa hasn't made a apperance yet. Plus Bonta-kun has been MIA for a while....
In any case, I thought episode 10 was funny as hell. Seeing Sousuke act totally out of his element was funny in itself. Then watching the rugby team kick some serious ass!!! I nearly laughed my head off when Sousuke kicked that poor dude in the head!! I guess I found this one funny cause I like rugby. Chidori does look quite nice with braids.:) Now all I want is Tessa!!! FUmoffu is one of the most hillarious shows i've seen in a good while (last series must've been Abenobashi Mahou shoutengai).
Will definetly buy this series once i'ts out on dvd
I think your request was answered, ACE2001...In episode 10, Tessa makes her entrance.
Edit: woops, yeah i mean 11.
You mean episode 11
Heh... 'The coming of a goddess to Japan'... the title really fits
ACE2001
23-10-03, 08:25 PM
Yes!! My prayers were answered! The goddess of Japan has arrived!!!! Man, episode 11 was the best episode so far out of this series. Tessa really did still the show from everyone in this episode. Hell, she spiced up everything and kicked it up a few notches. It's going to be interesting to see how Sousuke handles Chidori and Tessa. God, how I envy him to be in his place right now!! Even Bonta-kun makes an apperance. I knew that Tessa would make the difference. I feel kind of bad for Sousuke. Two beautiful women, only can choose one.....he's going to botch it up though. Damn, I can't wait for the next episode!!!:D
Poor Sousuke. I felt sorry for him all episode, first for getting crap from that sub-commander, then for having to watch Tessa all the time. So far this was probably the episode I liked the least, since I get really tired of love triangles really fast. But don't get me wrong: it was still hilarious, of course! This is Fumoffu we're talking about, after all.
IMO probably the best part was the split-second part with Bonta-kun and the banana, just because it came out of nowhere.
ACE2001
It's going to be interesting to see how Sousuke handles Chidori and Tessa.
Poor Sousuke! He isn't any good handling just Chidori by herself... I really wonder how he's going to survive stuck between Chidori and Tessa!

Well...episode 12 was entertaining. Sousuke handled it better than I thought he would, although there weren't alot of opportunities for him to mess up except in the first scene where he grabbed Tessa's breasts!! But what really got me going was when everyone went to the hot springs. When Kruz was trying to "rally" the troops so they can see them girls naked. I feel bad for Kazuka. :( Poor guy, traumatized by Sousuke's....... Overall, I enjoyed it. Also, towards the the end when Tessa went back to the submarine and said that she would protect everyone, I got the feeling that something major is about to go down...Looks like its about to get serious really quick or I may be wrong. As always, I can't wait for the next episode.:)

Another hilarious episode. Sousuke's dream was perfect, complete with his sub-commander in a schoolgirl outfit. The best part, of course, was at the hot springs. It was hilarious seeing Kurz foiled at every turn - Sousuke knows him too well, apparently! It was kind of cute seeing Sousuke playing Tetris, but I want to know what was up with that vibrating chair!
They had a lot of Austin Powers-like moments, with cleverly concealed nudity. Pretty slick, to see that in animation.
And, you're right. Sousuke got off easy! Lucky for him that Tessa didn't hang around too much longer!

Hmmmm... I love this series so much the way it is right now; I kind of hope it doesn't go serious. It would be okay if Fumoffu was less funny than it is, but it's so hilarious they could never pull off a satisfying ending if it got all dark.
I'm depressed that it's going to be over so soon, but I really want to see what else can happen. This is one of the few series that I literally can't wait to see the next episode of.

Okay!! I just got finished laughing my butt off!!! Episode 13 is the funniest episode so far. Bonta-kun ran thangs in this episode!! Whipped up them sorry excuse for "group" members and turned them into full fledged Bonta-kun's!! I love it when Bonta-kun makes an apperance!:D
As for the story development, nothing really went on. Looks like the relationship between Chidori and Sousuke is going to progress pretty slowly.:(
Did I mention that Bonta-kun rules!! He was truly gangsta in this episode. Regulating I tell you, regulate! I am loving every minute of this series.:)
Side Note: Would you wear a Bonta-kun costume in public? I know I would. Bonta-kun is the man!
 My chest hurts, I was laughing so hard. Bonta-kun army! I loved the first part when Bonta-kun is making those gangsters run, and they have to sing his "Fumo, fumo" marching song because they don't understand what the heck he's saying!
This is definitely one of the best episodes. Gangsta Bonta-kun!
And heck yeah, I'd wear a Bonta-kun costume, as long as it had that high-tech system on the inside. If it was just a smelly plush Bonta-kun costume, then probably not.

Episode 14 was funny, but not as funny as the prior episodes. But I must admit it was funny watching Sousuke trying to pick up them chicks!!! Poor Sousuke, he really doesn't have a clue about anything and he's trying so hard. Another thing I like was at the end when Chidori-san was in the Komono. She looked hot!!!:D Talking all sexy and stuff!! This episode explained the "art of flirting" which I found pretty cool. Well, sadly the last episode is next week.:( I am sad to see it go, I have definately enjoyed every moment. It makes you wonder how the last episode will go out. Will there be a season 3? Will Sousuke and Chidori kiss? Ahh!!!! I can't wait!! Man, I hope they don't let us down next episode.

I agree, it wasn't as funny, but Sousuke was cute when he was helping out that old lady! :kawaii: Sousuke really doesn't have a clue at all, does he? All those girls he tried to pick up were terrified of him. The best part was when he was offering to sell Soviet secrets just for a date! What girl wouldn't trade a date for something like that? Luckily Chidori comes through in the end for him - very sweet :D.

Yep, I am sad to say that this was the final episode.....I will report more of my thoughts when the Fan-subs arrive, but I will say this much it ends just as it begins....comedy style!! MEGA SPOILERS!!!!
Just finished watching the fan-sub version of the final episode and I must say that this was the funniest episode of the series yet. The only thing that mad me a little mad was that Chidori and Sousuke's romance didn't go anywhere!!!! I mean how long are they going to drag this out!!! But with that complaint aside, this episode had everything from drama, to romance, comedy, fan-service and all. Nothing was spared in this episode....except Bonta-kun. I thought that he would make a final appearance in this episode, but I was wrong to no avail. Like I mentioned in my earlier post, this had some extremely funny moments. Like when Kazu-kun was scaring the crap out of everyone in classroom!!! And when Sagara pulled out the winning ticket!!! Too hilarious! I was literally laughing throughout the whole episdoe right up to the point where Chidori and Sousuke were alone. I thought they may kiss or SOMETHING, but to no avail Sagara is as dense as ever!!!! Which makes him one of the funniest characters is anime. I believe there was a saying, "Ignorance is Bliss." Must be that way for him!!!!
Neverthless, this has been a fun ride. I enjoyed every episode, some were not as funny as the others, but hey they were funny enough. I am sad because now I am going to have to delete all of it to make room...:(
I hoping that there is a Full Metal Panic Season 3 in the works. It's got to be.....now for some important questions:
Which season did you like more, season 1 or 2?
When do you think season 3 will be released (if so)
And were you disappointed that relationship between Chidori and Sagara went absolutely nowhere?
I am waiting for the release of the FMP F DVD in Japan, which will contain the two missing eps.
** SPOILERS **

What an awesome final episode! I now know why this is the last episode, because I don't see Sousuke surviving this one! I loved the part where the entire class is jumping Sousuke in slow motion. And when he pulls out the single vial of vaccine and promptly informs everyone that only one of them can have it. Absolutely hilarious! Or when he pulls out the winning ticket for the vaccine, and launches into that great little speech about how he'll remember their sacrifice... This is definitely the most hilarious episode of this show.
It's so sad that this is the last episode! I would have liked to see Sousuke and Chidori end up closer together, but I'm crossing my fingers and really hoping for a third season. And until someone announces a license for Fumoffu in the US, I'm keeping these on my computer, no matter how much room they take! I know I'm going to watch these over and over again.
I haven't seen all of the first season, yet, but I like both seasons equally. They really complement each other. The characters are just so great, and it's nice to see both the more serious side and the utterly hilarious side of them all.
Why can't this be coming out on dvd yet?! Argh! I want it!

Does melissa make a apper on this show. And is this series, a 15 episodes series, or a 12 one.
It's both 15 and 11 episodes long. Some of the episodes are split so that there are two 12-minute episodes in one 25-minute period. But there are eleven 25-minute episodes. Does that make any sense? :)
And everyone from the first season appears at least once in season two... Kurz, Mao, Tessa, etc.
