I'm going to liven it up!
Got a GitS question? Ask away, and I'll do my best to answer!

So what the deal with Stand Alone Complex? Bandai licensed it and plans to release it next year? Any idea of exactly when, or what quarter? I still haven't seen it so I haven't been able to participate in GitS discussions all that much. My fansubs are backlogged at the moment so I can't fill up on GitS. lol
Peace. V

Actually, it had been rumored originally that GitS:SAC was going to begin being aired on the Adult Swim and released on DVD in America back in February. This, of course, was not true. It was also rumored that it would begin airing this summer. Also untrue.
As for the actual release date... I can't give any specifics until more are given. I don't know whether or not Cartoon Network has secured airing rights.

i have a question....
in GITS the movie...
when the major is fighting the big tank...
at one moment she's trying to open up a hatch....but rips herself appart in the process..
i was wondering why she'd do that....she has an android body...wasn't it sofisticated enough that she could read that her structure coulden't withstand the strain?
or was she damaged in some way before she tried to open the hatch? i didn't see her get hit by the tank or something similar to prove that.
so why'd she cripple herself? was it some sort of anger (inflamed by her human spark/ghost) or in frustration cause she coulden't get past the tank to collect the puppetmaster?

Do you have any info on the new movie?
Innocence, I think it's called.
I wanna know where it picks up the story, etc.

okay, I looked around a bit more, and found a link to what is supposed to be a trailer film. Haven't looked at it yet, but here's the link:

I have no information on the movie, save for that it's not going to be based on MMI.

my guess is that she can/will over-ride safety settings on her body (she is meant to be a great hacker so even if she isn't meant to be able to, i'd expect she's done it), as most systems, especially those that peoples lives depend upon tend to have massive ammounts of tolerance in the specs*.
Chances are things like the "muscles" used in such a body would be more than capable of damaging the "skeleton" if not monitored and limited (in which case it's most likely they would be limited by software depending on the total stress on the skeleton**).
If she did over-ride it, it's possible she overestimated how much tolerence was built into her bodies specs or as you say was damaged (so her body "failed" sooner than expected).
*i beleive allowing for stresses between 3 and 10 times the maximum expected is not uncommon.
**If you look at the ways the human body can cope with loads, some positions can cope with loads much better than others, just look at the number of people who put their backs out by bending over to lift something that if they had knelt would have been ok lifting.
So a sensible precaution in a robotic body is to place limitations on the maximum "muscle" strength for various parts of the body depending on the relative positions of the muscles and "bones" (basically if you try lifting a weight whilst bent over the monitoring routines would flash a warning or stop you at a lower weight than if it was a straight lift using the knees)

Okay DP, here's a question for you:
For my birthday, A friend burnt me a copy of the GiTS:SAC OST. But, on the track listening, tracks 2, 3, 7, 16 had no title because (he claimed that) the Mp3's he found of them had Japanese titles.
What are the English titles of those tracks?

I'll try and answer that soonish.

Track 2: trip city
Track 3: patch me
Track 7: rokki wa doko?
Track 16: Hi!

I've also heard it referred to as "Siberian Doll House', but I am trusting the Yoko Kanno Project as the more accurate source.
