sailor soldiers vs. sailor scouts

which do you think sounds better, sailor soldiers or sailor scouts?

i think sailor soldiers.

I agree on senshi. But if I had to choose between soldier and scout, I'd go with soldier. It sounds more powerful and stronger. "Scouts" sounds childish and weak! BTW don't scouts sell cookies? :D

I was referring to "girl scouts." Sailor scouts don't sell cookies, but girl scouts do. The cookie thing was supposed to be a joke.

I would rather be known as a Sailor Senshi than Sailor Scouts. As far as DIC is concerned, I think they didn't put a lot of thought into what to call them...they probably didn't like the thought of calling them Sailor Soldiers and probably thought Scouts sounded more nicer or frienlier or something like that... Who knows what went on in the minds of DIC?

I dunno how the whole scout thing came about, but my mum's old girl scout uniform has a sailor collar thing on it. maybe they thought the senshi's uniforms vauguely looked like out girl scout uniforms. they were probably eating girl scout cookies at the time. This is what too much sugar can do for you.

At least Dic was consistant with the "scout" thing. CWI went for "sailor warriors" to "sailor scouts" to "sailor soldiers" and back to "sailor scouts." What kinda mess is that!? Why can't they just make uo their minds?

Actually, I think Dic changed it to "Soldier" at least one time at the end of Sailor Moon R. It's when King Endymion was explaining why Rini/Chibi-Usa went back to the past to get Sailor Moon's help.

Sailor Soldiers sound better and that is what is originally was with Sailor Senshi, but of course DIC had to change it to Sailor Scouts

I think Sailor Soldier is better name, cos Scouts aren't supposed to really fight, they case-out the enemy position and stuff. but SM the main fighters are them chicks so they should be soldiers.

I think in asia the meaning of 'soldier' has many meanings. as my dad tells me soldier is expected to do many tasks when time is necessary not just the post or the job you been assigned to, from scouting the area to mapping to cooking to fighting. that's how is life is in the army in asia. so I guess she based on that type of what soldier is. not the western style.

So, the translation is correct as far as the level of the military they are referring to but the actual role the unit being referred to is not as restricted?

Anyway, here's my ramble. As far as what the the sailor senshi are, I think the best equivalant title is "warrior". This is because IMO, soldier gives me the impression of footmen or infantry, there to just follow orders. A warrior, on the otherhand, has and will use principles. They don't just follow orders, willy-nilly. They are elite level troops that fight for their principles.

"Scouts"? I know they are in jr. high but that's definitely WRONG, IMHO. They aren't fighting for merit badges and they don't sell cookies. ... Well, I'd buy some if Makoto or Ami made them :o but that's beside the point! I know it's meant to be aimed at kids but that's just too childish!

Sailor Soldier sounds stronger than a 'scout'....
