AWA is once again upon the fair Southern city of Atlanta like a heart attack upon Dick Chaney. I am going to head out tomorrow to take in all the craziness firsthand. I scoped out the scene today and saw a guy dressed in hip urban clothing, goth makeup... and cat ears... and a tail. Then I saw the entire cast of Chobits being cosplayed, as well as a No-Face from Spirited Away who must have been very hot outside in the sun what with his (or her) black costume on and all. Cosplay Mutants ahoy! It's gonna be crazy, that's for certain.
Unfortunately, due to the fact that I'm a lazy ne'er-do-well I never reserved a 3-day pass for $25 back before the deadline in August, so I have to fork over at least $20 at the door for a 1-day pass. Oh well, It'll be worth it. I saw some dealers arriving at the center with U-Haul trailers full of anime goodies to foist upon unsuspecting fans with money to burn. I also saw the art room, which looked small as usual but I couldn't be sure since no cameras were allowed in the room (I had one on me) and I hadn't paid to get in. But come tomorrow I will invade like the conquering Mongol Hordes of Ghengis Khan, only minus the Hordes or Ghengis Khan.
The great thing about the convention is that it's only 5 minutes from my house. I don't have to drive to the other side of the city like I did 2 years ago.
Is anyone else on the boards going to this den of anime and insanity this weekend?
