Nothing wrong with a short list...up until a few months back, all the anime I had seen was Evangelion, Akira and Ghost in the Shell.....

But thanks to the local anime club...I have extended my list considerably

I can't believe I forgot to add Gunsmith Cats to the list of anime titles I like. :(
Oh, and I believe it's so short because it's an OAV series (which are usually short, longest oav series I've seen was about 13 episodes). The manga is nice too though (from what little I've seen of it).
Oh, and UN, Dragonball has the 'Z' in the title for no real reason. The manga was originally called Dragonball, but around volume 18 (can't remember the exact number right now), the anime series just added the 'Z.' Probably to signify the change from the show being about Goku, Kulilen, etc, all as kids growing up, to a show about the race known as Saiya-jin and the appearance of aliens (also, Dragonball Z has less humor then Dragonball, which is kinda bad).

Quite simply, the creator of the manga wanted it that way. There's your answer. I know it's not the answer you were looking for (and I know many people are probably thinking along the lines of *baka* right now), but it is a correct answer.

as for the Sailormoon, ive seen a few episodes, but remember the original question was "What other anime series have people seen and thought were good?" and i dont like sailormoon because she is too childish, and the show is something which i somewhat equate with pokemon

Though i am laughing at her.

I saw few of the episodes that were on in the morning, but i stopped taping them (and im never up early enough).

I think it is something i could watch, not religiously but now and then (if its subbed that is)

The Japanese version of Sailor Moon is alright. . . Not as good as some series *cough*Ranma*cough* but it's still worth watching if you can pick up some fansubs (Which I doubt, since they're planning on dubbing the entire series now.)
Speaking of which, for anyone who has seen the last episode, how do you think that that episode will be edited before it can be shown on tv? :)

Digicharat is damn funny and I'd sub the second volume of it if not for the fact that Adobe Premiere is being perverse atm to me and refusing to record audio (can anyone tell me why? :P) Orphen is a great sword and sorcery series which I'm probably never going to see all of now that ADV have licensed it and will take the next ten years to release it ^^; Ditto for City Hunter :) Hana Yori Dango is in there for the mindless soapie factor :)
