The Movie is Inspirational.....

It feels like RahXephon... But completes Rahxephon in a different way...

It's RahXephon through the Eyes of Someone else...

It makes a great ending but an ending that is the vision of another director...

Yutaka Izubuchi who created rahXephon TV series let someone else direct the movie and it was a different vision.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~```
What surprises me is that Even though I could understand about 0.000009% of what was said... I could still feel what the characters were going through~!
Even though Yutaka Itsubushi said that there's about 20 mins of new footage... It feels like there is more like 40 minutes of new storyline.
Major changes are removal of some characters and story arcs... The Movie focuses on the love story of Ayato/Mishima... the only other story arc that's really is left in is Asahina's relationship with Ayato...
The movie is designed for you to watch after seeing the entire series... since you are given "THE" major spoiler for the TV series about half way through the movie when Ayato and Haruka "interact?"
As a treat...
Here's a beautiful Watercolor done by Hiroko Kanno...
Comparable to Yoshiyuki Sadamoto of Evangelion.
Here's AN's anime Guru John's quick take on the movie
http://animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26095&perpage=15&pagenumber=20
I finally got around to watching the RahXephon movie. I was a bit tentative about it because I'm not used to these condensed version movies usually being very good. To my pleasant surprise, the RahXephon movie is actually quite good. It's supposed to have 30 minutes of new animation, but it seemed like more than that to me. The film did have some problems, but it's disjointedness and lack of evocative atmosphere are inevitable results of condensing 12 hours of anime down to under 2. But the new footage is used brilliantly to reveal new plot points and round out the film instead of being just used as transitional material as was the case in the Yotoden movie, Gundam 0083 movie and Gundam W movie. The RahXephon movie actually manages to tell a slightly different story than the TV series, and largely manages to make you forget that you're just watching little bits and pieces of a larger work. I'm very glad that I took the time to watch this.
Thats a nice watercolor pic
Oh wow... Thanks westlo for looking through all of John's myriads of thoughts and actually finding that... Lol... It's very hard to find what you're looking for the way he just posts what he sees...
Oh well, it looks like John and I agree... :p Except, I'm looking at the interview in front of me and Izubuchi said the new footage is about 20 minutes and not 30 minutes. Unless Izubuchi told john 30 minutes in another interview. :)
Thats a nice watercolor pic-Westlo-
I really want to post more Hand sketches and watercolors but my scanners completely messed up... it scans in faint brown verticle lines and I'm having trouble figuring out how they got UNDER the glass?
And an even harder time figuring out how to open the scanner to clean it~!
