View Full Version : Gungrave
Okok, last new thread about a new series. Sorry, I just watched all these w/in the last couple days so...
Next to RoD:TV, this was the October series that I was most interested in. I hadn't heard much about the director, but the character designer is Nightow Yasuhiro from Trigun fame. I'm not sure, but the animation seems simliar to Trigun as well. Actually, I think a number of Trigun people may have been involved in this series. I believe the music is by the same person too.
Anyway, that's not why I was anticipating it. I just read about it and it looked promising. So far? It does look promising. Smooth (albeit short for the first episode) action sequences, intriguing plot layout, and very nice character designs. As I was before I watched this episode, I'm looking forward to more of Gungrave.

Last I checked, it was only a game, and was never thought of becoming an anime. Of course, I could be wrong.
Maybe I was a bit vague in my post. Gungrave the Anime has just recently started in Japan. That was what my post was directed to.

I'll be sure to check it out on the basis of the last sentence alone. I loved (http://animeboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32198) the music from Trigun. I was disappointed (http://animeboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=537188151#post537188151) with the way the series ended and with some aspects of it overall, I do consider it one of the better series I've watched.
I'm glad they took the jump from videogame to anime sequal.

i read a user's post about gungrave in AoD, apparently, the anime isnt as good as the game, music-wise and story wise...
It seems to me like a cross between Hellsing and Trigun... look's promising. I'll be watching more of this one.

Watched the first episode. Really dislike the character designs. This seems to be one of those action anime wherein the lead character defeats all manner of overwhelming opposition through his ridiculous skill (and in this case, unstoppable survivability) . Animation quality is half decent, and I'm not going to comment on the plot after only seeing one ep.
Get Gunslinger Girl instead. Both series' share the same initials, and Gunslinger girl excels where Gungrave merely plods. (+Gunslinger Girl features the P90. mmmm, P90).
Apologies for any premature opinions. But Gungrave really does remind me of Trigun, and for me at least, that equates to one term : mediocre. Looking forward to all the posts trashing my virtually unfounded opinions :D .
Finally caught the second ep.
Yup, I'll definitely be following this one. That's all. Too busy to post more.
