View Full Version : New Ghost in the Shell movie?
I've been seeing alot of posters around Tokyo advertising a new Ghost in the Shell DVD in 2004. I would have assumed this was just something to do with GitS:SAC, but on the poster, Kusinagi is drawn in the style of the original movie, but much cleaner and more detailed. Also, there is a basset hound sitting next to her broken body.
Anyone know anything?

yeah, it's called Innocence: Ghost in the Shell, or something like that.
There was a thread on it somewhere, but I'm to lazy to find it now.

Ohhh... a sequal to my favourite anime movie... ^_^
After watching the previews, it looks more like GitS:SAC, while the posters look like the original GitS.

Innocence apparently takes up where the original movie left off (kinda), while Standalone Complex was a standalone series (no pun intended).
From the previews, it looks like the movie is about Batou (sp), which would be cool, since he is the charter I like most in GitS.

I have seen I preview for Innocence. It looks great I have to say. I will see it when it comes out. I just have to learn some more Japanese in the meantime.
From what I have heard, it is being released on DVD, and possibly not in theatres.

"Innocence" was recently awarded some French film award (can't recall the name), but it's only the fourth animated film to ever recieve it, and the first anime film ever.

I heard that whilst Innocence is a follow up to the original GitS movie, it does incorporate elements from SAC.
Plus, unlike SAC, Innocence also Mamoru Oshii at the directorial helm.

It's getting a limited release in theaters sometime this summer or in the fall. Only like 10 cities in the US, which is bullshit if you ask me but at least I'll be able to see it on DVD eventually.
It played here in Philadelphia last weekend.

Saw it last Sunday in Seattle. ------- brilliant film and easily Oshii's best next to Jin-Roh and Patalbor 2.
