second season dubs.

now that banner is on tech tv what's everyone think of the second season dubs.

now i know alot of people hate the 1st seasons dubs, but you have to remember that lafiel is supposed to have trouble communicating. that basically negates half of the arguments i hear about the dub sucking.

well, the dub once again seems fine to me. at first i thought it was really wierd that the voices seemed changed a bit, but 3 years have passed in the anime time line and the charactors have aged from 18-21, so a slight maturing could be in order.

keep in mind i've seen the entire series subbed. i don't mind it at all, considering what tokyo pop is doing with initial D (one of my all time favorite series).

The dub for Banner of the Stars sounds fine to me. But I also try to take each thing for what it is without making comparisons to other things. I know I don't always succeed, it's sometimes impossible not to draw comparisons, but I try. Maybe if you've seen enough anime it's possible to tell if a dub is good or bad without having heard the original Japanese to know what it should sound like. Pretty much everything I've seen dubbed only on TV has sounded OK to me though, so I may not be the best judge of dub quality. But for Crest and Banner, I've always kind of liked Lafiel's voice. Whether it fits well or not, I'm not certain, so I guess I just like the general sound of her voice. Maybe her speech is slightly awkward, but as you say she's supposed to have some trouble communicating and given what we know about her, that seems reasonable. E.g., how often would a princess be talking to people as if they were her peers? So I don't know, it sounds fine to me but most dubs do.

I'm still not happy with the dub.

Otherwise, the series is excellent! Perhaps, even better than the original.
