Azalie's reason of turning into a Giant thing with Scales

Now why did Azalie use the Sword of Baltanders on herself? Like fair enough Childman rejected her but was that reason enough to stab herself? I know she wanted power to show off to Childman, but she did know how powerful the 3 relics were, didn't she. I just don't understand Azalie's reason behind it all. They say that Love will do stupid things to you; maybe this is another instance of this?

Hmm...I'm re-watching this right now and I don't quite understand the reason myself. She was already one of the most powerful sorcerers in the Tower of Fang. I think it was the fact that she was greedy. She wanted too much power and in the end became her downfall.
