Shadow War

I have finished the series and I have to say that it was great. But I think that the ending played it safe and was not anything groundbreaking.
It is one of my favourite series. But I still love Eva which this series is compared to by most people. They are different and similar at the same time.

I'm looking forward to the last DVD of Rahxephon myself. I loved Eva as well, but that ending was not as satisfying to me as it could have been, groundbreaking or not (I've got enough philosophy junk to worry about in school :splat: ) Not wanting to open up THAT can of worms though, I'll just say that they are probably my 2 favorite anime series. I like Eva because of the complexity and atmosphere, and I like Rahxephon for its personality and the ability to be humorous while still taking itself seriously.

Yeah I say the same thing. When I saw the ending to rahxephon two days ago. I said that this ending was like eva, as fae as ayato having to make a new world, but insted of it just being me and the one he love, he bring everyone bring and everyone was well to, and you can see that to. Unlike EoE it still had that dark theme to it, and at the end you just saw shiji and asaka, which everyone was gone.

Translation: Kindred didn't like Eva because it has a bittersweet ending...
And both RahXephon endings end like a fairytale...
But I'd have to say that End of Eva's ending simply floats my boat since it doesn't resort to the "feel good" endings...
It lets you know that once you've messed up... There is no way to turn back, you have to move forwards, and sometimes the new beginning can become greater than if you never made mistakes in the first place.
RahXephon is more of a Love will save the day... and I think those endings just don't stand out of the crowd as say... EoE's ending.

Kyrakasa it is good to see, that you still are a eva fanboy or fangirl, and stay use any reason that you can come up with to cover up that eva was just crap. Because if you rather see characters getting kill for reason, prime example mistao, she was about to died any way, but the way they kill her was un call for, because they did not have to kill her like that.

RahXephon wasn't bad, but I probably won't find myself watching it again.

I finished watching 1st DVD, but it doesn't pull me in as Eva did, should I keep watching? I mean, action scenes are almost too unrealistic, and characters are not very memorable, other than that sister caressing incest freak musician or whatever he is. I can barely remember the main character's name.
Definately one of my favorite series. The more you watch it the deeper and more compelling it gets.

Of course it doesn't, it doesn't have the cool action scenes and blantant fanservice of the start of Evagelion to "pull" someone in straight away. Who cares about great animation, music, intiriging plot and atmosphere.

So i take it the animators of RahXephon aren't too high on your list to save when Japan sinks?
other than that sister caressing incest freak musician or whatever he is.
Watch the show and see how wrong you are
I can barely remember the main character's name.
You wouldn't be able to remember his name if he was called RahXephon.

Hey all, does anyone know what RahXephon mean? And NewType05, I read your reply but I was a little taken back by the language & the harshness.
:( The folks here are really nice. :) So, please, be kind, ok? :)

What I love, after watching it for the 8th time: is noticing that similarity between puberty and before puberty. In the first DvD, as Ayato starts on the path of becoming a man physically, it's depicted as a "WAR" from within between "Women" and his "body". Remember the scene of him w/ Mishima in the Rah Room, his mother & the other Dolem? It's the same in a man when you starts the "switch" from boyhood to manhood. What's really cool is if you study human development, the brain & body transform so much during puberty and for YEARS aftwards till about 25, it's as if we switch from being a caterpiller to a butterfly internally. The way it's displayed w/in RahXephon is beautiful but a little unsettling. The chemical changes in teens is off the scale! and the director/inventor of RahXephon really picked up on that.

Also from the beginning, one has to watch VERY carefully EVERY SCENE including the opening and closing sections. Why? Because the art work & the continuous picture of Mishima. My, how important women are to us. Let alone, in the opening & closing w/ the "hair" of Quon being lose around her head - the the bird flying next to her - then her hair "flowing" even more represents "freedom" along with her being in the room waiting to the room being empty. We are children for a while, but then, we must "leave that room" and enter adulthood. For some, it's easy, most it's hard, some, never make it through the shift.
