Now I knew even before seeing a preview of this anime, I knew that I would not like it, and I been caution of gonzo animes, ever since vandread. But my friend show me the first volume of this anime, and I have to say. I was about to go to sleep on this anime, and I have not did that since I saw the 5 and 6 volue of noir, but with noir I did like it was just the 5 and 6 volume was so boring, but with this anime I was about to fall asleep complety. Now I hear that it was get better later on in the series, and that it just has a slow pace. Now I have a rule abou animes like these, if I do not like them in the first few episodes I see, I either do not watch it any more or just do not get it.
And another thing, everyone says that this anime is the best out there, but at the same time it does not have a groungbreaking story, and that if you do not see it you are not messing noting. Now just how this anime is so great, and everyone saying this about it?
Well, I liked it. It's certainly one of the best looking animes out there, and it has cool action sequences. The plot isn't revolutionary, by any means, but it's still pretty good, and the characters are interesting. It also has great music.
However, the plot doesn't actually really start until a few episodes in; before that it's just setting the scene. You might want to give it a couple more episodes before you give up on it. In the end, of course, the series might just not be your sort of thing.
It depends. I really enjoyed the first five eps, and the last eps are superb as well, but there is some drag in the middle. The series is not flawless and not a classic, but it is very good. The release schedule for this show is killer, though --- once every two months. It's still floating around on fansub if you've got Bittorrent.
I liked the first two episodes well enough... So i dont regret buying the box thing.... yet. It kind of sucks that my desire to watch it isnt so great, seeing as ill have to wait 2 months for new episodes. But what the hell

it starts off slow but man does it pick up in the middle if you have run out of decent anime to watch get it not many new series can compete, beware the ending is somewhat lacking in explaining everything..but arn't most animes like that?

Considering I really enjoyed Last Exile AND Vandread, it makes me wonder what anime kindred350 likes. Does he like anything?!
I'll keep it simple: Last Exile ROCKS. Right from the word go, it grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go.
Well, everyone's tastes are different. I've watched the first volume of it, and, while it has the POTENTIAL to be something great, the first 4 eps lagged quite a bit. As an anime collector and fan, of course I'll continue to buy this series, but it takes much more than nice looking animation, good music, and beautiful aciton scenes to make a good anime. I believe that the characters themselves and how they interact with one another is the most important aspect of an anime. I believe that Kindred350 believes this as well, and the first 4 eps of Last Exile show a very small aspect of that, through Lavie and Claus, which is good. But an anime of this magnitude(there are events that will happen all around the world, not like a school drama that only concerns itself with a small number of chars), it's certainly not enough.
Ive seen all of whats been released (in Australia) at the moment - 4 or 5 DVDs, i think, but im not sure. I just gave the last one back to its owner, and i cant check where im up to. I have found this to be a very good series, though it is dragging a little bit. Though i dont usually like race sort of shows, i have even managed to find the vanship races exciting... making me find a race interesting is something very special.

I love it. It's the only series I'm really enjoying at the moment. The animation as sweet, and I like the world they've created
I found it to be rather slow at first, but it's ended up being one of my favourite series this year, i think partly (largely) due to the feel of the series, I can't quite say why but it reminds me of some of the classic sci-fi books of the 50's, 60's and 70's.
