I have decided for my first DVD im going to buy Rurouni Kenshin Vol.1 and I dont know if it is going to be in english. If its not thats ok, but will it work on my DVD player if its Japanese? Just a couple questions and all replys would be welcomed. :)

If this volume one is a legit DVD then it should have english language option aswell as japanese language option. As for will it play or not depends on what region the DVD is and what region DVDs can be played on your DVD player.

If you're going to order from Amazon .com: unless it states the dvd is an import then it's domestically produced (US is region 1). I have yet to see an anime that hasn't been put out as a region 1 without some form of English translation (sub or dub), so you're safe there.
If you're ordering from Amazon .co.jp, then (for obvious reasons! ) you might not be so lucky. I've never bought an import dvd, so I'm not sure how many include English subtitles. Also, Japan puts out dvds that are region 2 encoded, so it might not work on your dvd player. I'm guessing, though, that this isn't really the Amazon you were asking about.
You could also try online anime stores. My personal favorite is Robert's Anime Corner Store (www.animecornerstore.com), which has a very extensive listing of anime for prices that can be cheaper than Amazon. An added bonus is that they are very quick about getting your stuff out to you, and you know that you're going to get legitimate dvds instead of the bootlegs that some other stores might try to pass off as legit. Unless you're looking in the import section, then everything's going to have either an English dubbed track or English subtitles.
Hope that helps.

Ordering from amazon.com will give you dvds in English. So unless you ordered from another amazon like amazon.co.jp you will get the dvds with English dubs and subs all in one (unlike VHS).
Concerning encoding (will it work on your DVD player), look under the Product Details and 'Encoding'. It says 'Region 1' so it will work only on region 1 dvd players. Region 1 being North America. If it was a Japanese disc, that's Region 2, so you would need a Region 2 dvd player, or better yet an all-region dvd player so you don't have to worry about where it came from. :)

Amazon.com certainly ought to be selling Region 1 DVDs since they're the US based branch of the company. As long as your DVD player is a Region 1 player or an all-region player, you'll be able to play the disks. As a Region 1 release, it should contain both Japanese and English audio tracks and have English subtitles available that you can turn on or off as desired. Just check the detailed information for the DVDs to see what features they have. And as long as the disk's and player's region numbers match (or you have an all region player), you'll be able to play the disks. Good luck and have fun. :) Having seen Rurouni Kenshin on CN, I'm tempted to buy the DVDs to see everything they edited out, but there are so many DVDs that it would cost like $600 to buy them all. I'm reluctant to spend that much on a one series when that same amount of money can get me a few 26 episode series boxed sets or even more short (~13 episode) series, movies, and OVAs.

I'd suggest watching TRSI (rightstuf.com). They have weekly specials that they put up every Thursday and they put bundles of an entire series for cheap up sometimes. Also they frequently have studio sales where everything put out by a specific studio (ADV, Geneon, Mediablasters, etc) will be on sale.
