View Full Version : NeiA_7 released in Aus by Madman
Just finished watching this one tonight. Much like the other Abe project that finished up this month with Madman, Haibane Renmei, NeiA_7 is a series populated with loveable characters with nothing in the way of an apocolyptic storyline or any story other than the initial set up.
I really enjoyed this series. I got to share some wacky times with cast of this gem, and then its over. Light and fun with no pretense of being anything else. Recommended for those who can value characterisation in their anime.

I advocate that people don't smoke anything of a flavored kind before watching as the stress from the lack of action can be hard to bear for some.

"light" is one way to describe it. I wanted more backstory on the aliens and especially the mothership.
I both liked and chafed against the goofy-to-melancholy moments that shifted back and forth. I appreciate the different direction towards a realistic (as long as you accept the alien thing) and uncompromising story of "normal" life.

The series has some entertainment value. There were some good laughs.
But the series also falls short of what it could have been. There were several interesting storylines -- NeiA's mysterious link with the Mother Ship, Mayoku's depression. But the series does nothing with them! They dwell on these plots for about two episodes, and then drop them! Disappointing!
