im not that far in the series, (book 4/5) but does Onizuka's friend Ryuji get any decent parts in the books? it seems he doesnt do much in book two and doesnt even appear in book three. was he just a starting emotional support character? or does he appear later? please keep the spoilers to a minimum since i still have a lot of books ahead of me. just answer this one question.

I haven't read the manga but if it's anything like the anime then no Ryuji doesn't get decent parts. But if you want more Ryuji then I do suggest you going out and finding 'Bad Company', I recently read it, it's a prequel to GTO and explains how Ryuji and Onizuka meets.

I don't think its licensed yet so no english release, you'll have to either get the Japanese copy or find scanlations for it.

Has Bad Companies been released by some scanlation group? I heard mangareactor wanted to do it, but AFAIR they didn't even finish Shounan Jun Ai Gumi...
