Full Metal Panic 3, Confirmed!!!

According to Japanese fan site Fullmeta.com, the September issue of Dragon Magazine will contain an official confirmation that Fullmetal Panic! Fumoffu? director Yasuhiro Takemoto will direct the third Full Metal Panic anime. There is no detail on whether the anime will be a TV series, OAV series, or motion picture.

This is somewhat of suprise, but what I more interested in is the direction it could turn. A movie, OAV series, or TV series. I would prefer the third season to go back to it roots, meaning the first season, as it was more story oriented and had more balance to it than Fumoffu, not to say that's bad. In any case, it's still good news to hear. :)

Okay, let's get a shopping list going:

What needs to happen in this new incarnation of FMP

- Lot's of humour
- Lot's of mecha action
- Background on Tessa
- More tension, and a better resolution, in the Tessa/Chidori/Sagara love triangle
- I want to know why Gauron was so insane DAMMIT! I don't care they go about it, I just want an answer!

If Gauron comes back for the third season... I wouldn't put it past them to be that evil. He's like a cockroach that just can't be killed.

Anyway, this is great news. More hilarious scenes as in Fumoffu would be nice, but I'd also like to see more of the serious side of Full Metal Panic too. Your list is about right, Spike.

I know the fanboys will disagree with me on this one, but I don't think there needs to be more background for Tessa. Her character is alright, but I'd prefer that the real focus of the story be on Chidori and Sousuke, since they're the whole reason I watch the show. I'd like to see Chidori and Sousuke's relationship develop more.

Man, I'm really looking forward to this. I hope this is one of those series that will be snapped up before it even starts to come out, because I can't wait to see more of FMP. Although I hear we've got a ways to wait anyway. Can anyone verify the April 2005 date I keep hearing on the grapevine?

From my October Japanese Newtype, a few more info came up.
The production will be a TV series.
"Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid"
(treated as the real continuation of FMP, as Fumofu is a side-story.)

Like the first series, the second will be based on the FMP Novels.
I haven't read them myself, but English translations of it exists on the net.
'End of day by day' is the book title.

According to those who read it, it follows on from the first series very tightly. Chidori was described to be doing 'very cool things', whatever that means.
Some more background on the Black technology would surface, more info on Tessa's brother...
And Gauron.
Or at least, what's left of him... :D
There will be a LOT of serious moments...

It seems the fans of the 1st series got their prayers answered...
I will wait for the second season of Fumofuu.

Just an update. The date has been set for the 3rd season: July 13, 2005 at midnight. Just about a month and half away. Can't wait! :)

I can't wait for this to come out only about a week and a half till its released anyone know when it will be available in the states? I really loved FUMOFFU it was hilarious hopefully they will resolve or further the relationship between Tessa, Chidori, and Souske. Can't wait :)
